Writers, what is the PB story you would offer to someone who could only read one of your Prison Break fanfics? Just one fic.

That's a great reason to chose a fic, too. Especially in that you made a comparison with one you would have previously chosen as a fave. I would suspect that would involve growth as a writer - if you can see how you've progressed or improved upon what you had felt was your best effort. I think that's important, too because I would suspect that if anyone involved in a creative endeavor sat back and thought they'd done their best work without ever being able to think that they could improve upon it, they might become stagnant in their creative process. So perhaps that's a lesson for us to take from this. Maybe I should have called it favorite fic “so far.”

That you would pick your story because of the characterization also is very interesting, especially in fanfic, because character is so very important in this genre - people reading already "know" the characters from the show, so getting them "right" requires a different sort of effort from an author than creating characters out of whole cloth that a reader is unfamiliar with.
