This week has come and gone quickly. Yes, tomorrow is only Thursday but I will be heading up to Pine Mountain, Georgia for a weekend of backpacking. I'm definitely amped up for it with the amazing weather coming in this week, but I also haven't been backpacking in at least two years. And that is much too long.
Earlier this week on Monday evening I had the opportunity to record some acoustic guitar work with my friend Stacey. She was recording at a lovely little studio up in Cairo. I know, I know. I was skeptical too. Cairo? Recording studio? But I was impressed. The studio resides in a separate building behind this beautiful country home on a horse farm. The setup was very professional but quite comfortable as well. So comfortable in fact that I was able to record my part in just two takes. All in all the experience was a blast except for when we went to Burger King and had to wait 10 minutes to get ketchup. This lady must have been preparing frappachinos at the Burger King condiment stand for all we could tell. And in our tired state and utter disbelief at this spectacle we never realized to just go get ketchup packets at the front counter.
Oh yeah, finally got my mountain bike back in good shape. Went for my first ride in years since my racing days for FSU. Covered Lake Overstreet trail, Red Bug trail, and the Lake Jackson loop. I definitely was an overachiever pushing for the Lake Jackson loop. My legs were shot halfway into that and it was a looong way back and mostly uphill. I had a good time I guess but I was very disappointed at my lack of enthusiasm once on the trails. I can recall such a deep love and joy that I once had for riding and it just wasn't there. Maybe it will come back as I get in better shape again.
