*sigh* I got my TX driver's license (ugh, DMV), got my inspection updated (had to pay for a new O2 sensor, ouch), and went to the County Offices to either pay or get my tickets dismissed.
I got the insurance one dismissed, but still had to pay for the inspection and driver's license mishap. *sigh.*.... *SIGH*. It was almost $400. And that really hurt, because I'd been trying to put away half my paycheck every two weeks for the wedding/down payment on a house. But you know what? At least it's over, and everything's completely legal now. No worrying about my inspection, or the check engine light being on, or explaining about my New Yorkness.
Although I still will, because it's better than having people think I'm from Texas. HA!
We did have a bit of fun over the weekend.
We got to go to a cake tasting! We went to Frosted Art (www.FrostedArt.com) . Bronwyn Weber, who has competed a few times in Cake Food Network Challenges is the executive head chef over there! SO EXCITING! So Nick, Brittni (my wedding planner) and I sat down with a cake designer, and came up with a design that we all thought would look awesome and tie in with the fall wedding. I won't say what it looks like... (I want you to be dazzled, dammit... DAZZLED!), but I will tell you the flavors and tiers.
There are three tiers. The smallest top tier will be Red Velvet cake, the middle layer will be Chocolate Caramel cake, and the biggest bottom layer will be Caramel Macchiato flavored. So everyone should have something they will enjoy. Oh, and no fondant icing. Butter cream all the way, baby!
