Last year, I remember saying on Tumblr that I'd like to see someone say they're dressing as a sexy pirate for Halloween and then have it turn out they're just cosplaying Jae-ha.
This week, though, I realize that I'm not even ready to apply the same principle to Talk Like a Pirate Day.*
*(Engage in suave, shameless flirting with everyone you meet. Confidently bullshit people to hide your emotional scars. Be open about your kinks.)
AkaYona is still the closest thing to a primary fandom I have at the moment, although I'm not caught up on the manga scanlations. I do think the Xing arc broke me. (It started out SO GOOD and then the most annoying arc villain yet showed up and killed it dead in its tracks along with a couple of interesting secondary characters. My faith has been shaken.)
In other media logging, I tried to watch Nirvana in Fire 2 but ended up dropping it at ep 25. It had gotten to feel like a soapy, sloppily written mess (something that could never be said of the original NiF), and the whole poison-snake-guts caper was the last straw. It was probably worse because I thought I knew what was going to happen and was just wishing they'd get on with it and it turned out no, it was way dumber. (Oh, this is going to tie into the earlier coldness poison thing and we'll find another way rather than moping around and then we'll race against time to tell Bro to call off the snake guts and... No, it was way dumber than that.) As a writer, I think it was also a mistake to render the character we're trying to save entirely unconscious during all this; you leave so much pathos on the table that way. Anyway, dropped.
