The War in Iraq?

May 03, 2011 10:09

I realize since Big O has declared the war is over in Iraq, everything is butterflies and rainbows over there now.  At least the press no longer reports on Iraq.  But it might interest some people to know that there have been 22 US Military fatalities in Iraq so far this year.  Yes, it is a very low number, but given the fact that we no longer have "combat" troops over there, every soldier we send to Iraq has a target on his or her back, and the insurgents think they can kill our soldiers with impunity since the US government and the press no longer takes note of the casualties any more.

So in case anyone is in doubt, there is still a war going on both in Iraq and Afghanistan.  UBL's death, nor the declaration of the end of combat operations by the Administration has ended the war in either theater.  Despite the fact that we as a nation, have not dedicated ourselves to actually winning these wars, it does not alter the fact that we still put soldiers in harm's way.
