Fall Fire
red vine fire
igniting the trees
tops like a fuse
there goes the forest
the fire spreads
from tree to tree
It burns bright
red-yellow and
fiery orange.
And then the rains come
and the fire fades
like the late light.
the ashes accumulate
and burn out brown
on the ground.
the forest is bare
the anorexic trees
thin and stark
the phoenix buried deep
will rise again
from the Sky's spring tears.
