WELCOME TO SEASON 3 ICONS

This is certainly very exciting. After working on season 2 for more than a year, I was ecstatic to start working on season 3. Unfortunately, the beginning of season 3 came at a very dark time, and my muse had hightailed out of me while I was left scrambling with an odd assortment of textures that I was determined to incorporate into icons. Honestly, I think this batch is the weakest of all of the season 3 batches I have completed so far. This particular batch was finished months ago, and since then, I am rather aghast at the horrors that had arisen in this batch.

But luckily, there are batches after this, and I have completed 3x04 - Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, which is an exciting batch. Unfortunately, the two episodes following 3x04 is not as interesting, and so I am rather reluctant. But no matter, I will rise up to the challenge.

Looking back, both 3x01 and 3x02 are rather dark batches. I had striven to make rich colors arise out of the darkness, as I am sure reflects Mulder and Scully's feelings as they are battling unknown horrors with the prospect of being targeted and having their every move watched. Incidentally, it is not unlike the horrors and insecurity Ron, Hermione, and Harry face in Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows. There is some unspeakable terror in losing security and at the same time being the target of unknown forces.

For those who have not seen my massive roundup of 2,387 Season 2 icons, if you are so inclined, do take a look-see here. I would gladly engage you in any kind of verbosity and fun.

A SMALL REQUEST

I spent about 40 minutes in Barnes and Noble today, reading a special edition of a magazine on Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix movie and its production. Then I came across an article on Jim Dale, the man behind the Harry Potter audio books, and how he utilizes hundreds of different voices for the characters. He also holds the Guinness record for the most number of voices utilized in an audio book or something to that nature. This makes me intrigued. I recently downloaded Stephen Fry's audio book for Deathly Hallows and I would love if someone could point me to a link where I can download a copy of Jim Dale's audio book. Or any of the books, actually. I just want to hear what it's like. I've never listened to an audio book before.

RANDOM QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK

I haven't done one of these in quite some time, but I do have nearly 250 friends watching this journal, and so I felt this is appropriate to do, possibly weekly, to learn more about you.

These are based off of the questions that blackcurrant gave me a very long time ago, and so I return the favor and pose them to you. I will answer blackcurrant's full list of questions in an upcoming friends-only entry.

1. Give me a piece of random coolness, and show off your inner nerd. Mine: cryptophasia. Really interesting, a phenomena that is sometimes seen between identical twins, who share a secret language. Here is a really short and woefully inadequate description of cryptophasia. I'm sure one of you would be able to find a much better resource.

2. What is your favorite place in the world? This is a hard question for me, because there are so many places that inspire great feelings and connectedness, but I guess one of my favorite places in the world to be would be in a small cafe with a bookstore or library. I've been to many such places, and I just love the feeling of going to a mahogony-lined, quiet, aromatic cafe and whiling away an afternoon reading magazines and books. It is one of the most luxurious feelings in the world. However, certain libraries also inspire that feeling. I haven't been to too many beautiful, historical libraries in my time, and I do hope to travel to famous libraries in the world just for the feeling of being dwarfed by towers of books, and facing an eternity of academia. Another favorite place in the world (I know I'm not being specific) is being by the ocean. Standing above the cliffs of Palos Verdes, watching the waves crash upon the rocky tidepools and looking out into an infinity of ocean, and seeing how the ocean curves at furthest point of your vision, and being overwhelmed by the immensity of being on the edge of a continent, that is a place to be.

ABOUT THE ICONS

I decided, for the first time ever, to publish three fandoms of icons at once, to compensate for the truly lacking The X-Files icons. I also have a huge pile-up of House M.D. icons only because I had found stashes of icons here and there on various computers, and due to the hacking of my previous Photobucket account, I had not properly consolidated all of these icons. It was also appropriate to continue publishing the Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire movie icons because the newest movie had come and gone, and I am still not finished iconing the previous movie.
