It's been a long time since I've finished and posted art, and when it rains, it pours.
The majority of this art is specifically for
Three Patch Podcast Livejournal
community), which has been a huge source of pleasure and pride for me. I love working with the other Consulting Fans, both as a Podcaster (I am involved in "Sorting Sherlock" and "Reichenbach Fallout" segments) and in developing this look for the Podcast.
Prior to my work with Three Patch Podcast, I did not feel completely comfortable working with Adobe Illustrator. In fact, two hours after I opened up Illustrator to start drafting the Three Patch logo (my first contribution to the Podcast), I cursed myself for volunteering to do this. Now? I have achieved a modicum of comfort, and I have been more and more pleased by what I can do with the tools at my disposal. Now, I can slowly start playing with it. Specifically, I have been exploring white space and extreme angles in my compositions here. I want to achieve highly emotional imagery out of minimalism.
My most recent work is this one (below), and I am immensely happy with how it turned out. It's amazing how Sherlock and John are instantly recognizable (at least to me), even with key features left out. The mind supplies so much, and that's what I wanted to achieve. I want to be able to tell entire stories with blankness.
