Democracy, Terror, and Trickle-Down Emotions

Well, it's finally happened to me. It took long enough.

I got and email from one of my oldest, dearest friends who is now, finally, after being lucky for over a year, finally, finally stationed in Iraq.

I'm really lucky that this is the first that I've been personally affected by the war. It's been going for a while, 1000 Americans dead, 10000 Iraqis, and now, now Jeff is there. Today this war went from something nebulous and scary that I felt strongly about to something real and scary that I felt strongly about. Terrified.

I'm trying to be profound, despite my fear and impotent rage, but the best I can say is I support the humans who fight and die the best they can for an administration who takes on debts that can only be paid by the young and the poor.
