I am in Valencia and my hostel has free internet access, hurrah! But I am v tired as woke up at 4am to catch plane this morning, and also this keyboard is full of annoying things-that-are-not-where-they-should-be, as well as things that are on top of things they shouldn`t be (lack of right way round apostrophes a perfect example there), so a proper update will have to wait.
Meanwhile, today in brief: succeeded in getting to airport, on plane, to Valencia and to hostel without too much trouble (phew); visited IVAM (museum of modern art), Museum of Prehistory and Culture, Museum of Fine Art (well, actually just the cafe, because my feet needed a break - am going back to see the actual art there another day), Museum of Natural Science and a temporary freestanding exhibition on science and culture in Moorish Andalusia; wandered around looking at old stone buildings; got lost numerous times in mazes of twisty little Spanish alleyways; and had tapas and rioja for dinner before finding my way back here. And most of that without speaking English! (because a lot of people here don`t; more on that when I can be bothered to write a proper entry.)
Tomorrow most museums are closed, so I`m going to the Oceanarium and the Science Museum at the CAC, both of which are open. One thing I really like about Spain so far: because of siesta time, everything stays open until about 8pm. But some places don`t have siesta time, so they just have extra long opening hours. As someone who thinks the world should be 24-7 when I want it to be, that suits me pretty well.
This whole travelling thing is a great adventure, really - I don`t think I`ll ever stop wanting to see new things and visit new places. Now if only I were super-rich, to afford all of it...
