It hasn't all been doggy hijinks here at FoxDog. We are working pretty hard to get the farm ready for the 2011 season. In late October, right as the monsoon started, we got some ploughing done.
This'll be where potatoes and squash and a few other things are planted.
The fields from 2010 have been cleaned, most of the 'trash' (overgrown plants, weeds, etc) cut down, and some ploughing started there too. Here are the irrigation drip lines laid out. Yes, we need these, even though right now the place is basically flooded (darn monsoon!).
The flooding happened as soon as it started to rain. This year we went from dry to soaking in about two days. Here's where the ploughing stopped and the tractor started to sink. Heh. It's out, we'll finish the ploughing in spring.
Garlic gets planted in October around here. It's surviving this super wet winter pretty well. Here the little buggers are poking up their heads, all in a row. You can see how saturated the ground is right now. We daren't walk on it, or cultivate it at this time.
What happens to the Christmas Tree? The goats get it!
And finally, it wouldn't be a FoxDog Farm post without at least one mention of the dog. Today is her very first birthday! She's a whole one year old! I never thought I'd get over the death of the last FoxDog, Reyna. I'm actually not sure I have. But the blessing of Jaska has really made a difference in that. She's a treasure!
And, right after we got her in March 2010:
