August was a pretty crazy month. Usually it's July when things go a bit wonky, and it wasn't all bad (per se), but it was rather an emotional roller coaster. Work went a bit mad while The Boss was out on her holiday, but it all wrapped up nicely today. Thank goodness.
And holy cow, how did it get to be September already?! On the upside, this means my trip with mom is in 3 (3!!) weeks, which is exciting and my birthday is coming quick, but still, it's uncanny at how quickly this summer has gone. I feel like it's a completely different universe since May.
But what have I actually accomplished?
August intentions
- Post processing!! 2 trips. I really mean it this time. Ultimate goal is to be completely caught up before Mom and I leave on 23 September
Check. I managed 5 trips! Easter in Dartmoor, NYC in September 2010, Shakespeare Festival 2010, Paris in April 2010 and Sailing in Ipswich.
- Find out what the [insert favourite obscenity here] is going on with a certain training contract application (full story to come after I have a chat with someone on Monday)
Check. 2 posts on this - I'm actually meeting with the HR person next week. So more news on that front pending.
- Keep gardening.
Check-ish. We had a lot going on each weekend this month, but still got out twice. Not too shabby. Not really a very motivating intention - more specific tasks below that should help with the motivation.
- Finish organising the hotels & key excursions for Mom and my trip. Blog about how awesome this will be.
Hotels - check! Excursions - not quite. Blogging - check, but not quite as I envisioned. A bit of drama in the middle of the month derailed this process a bit. 3 weeks to finish it off
- no less than 1 LJ post per week, ideally 2
Check. Very pleased at how well I'm getting back into the swing of this.
- Get to grips with Quaker property management best practices. Holy cow this is one heckova gordian knot right now, and lucky me has been appointed to the Area Meeting small group to help sort it out.
Check-ish. Turns out the property management isn't really the issue, but it's been an interesting process in Quaker discernment. May blog about this more in future.
September Intentions
This is going to be a rather short month, due to the long trip at the end of the month, but there are still things to get done
- Finish photo editing - goal is still to be done before leaving on the trip with Mom on the 23rd.
- Plant strawberries for next spring and plan seed schedule for the winter months
- Finish scheduling last two little excursions for the trip (kayaking & horseback riding)
- Read at least 3 books off my list for September
- Plan 2 networking coffees with ex-colleagues
Any exciting plans out there for September? Anyone have an exciting August?
