because no matter how fab our new place is going to be, we've had a pretty good run in this place - lots of memories floating around and the first place that
raayat and I really got to settle in for longer than a year. Not to mention all of you who have been to visit regardless of whether it was from Ealing or California or anywhere in between. Memories like those are sticky and it will take some time to build up a good layer of new ones in our new space. So in memorial, a list in order that it occurs to me of things I will miss about this flat, good home that it's been:
- gas stove/hob - this has totally spoiled us rotten. After all, it was in this flat that we really got into our stride with cooking. Electric just won't be the same.
- sleeping with the windows open - our new place is on the ground floor an the bedroom window opens onto a garden that is at the front of the house that is not exactly difficult to get into.
- a very expansive dining room table - has made the few big catering events we've done fairly easy to pull off. Will have to settle for much smaller affairs going forward (unless we're holding them in the back garden)
- built in wardrobes that are plenty big for my clothes and shoes - we'll have to buy a stand-alone one and it just won't be the same. I love my closets
- storage space in general - this flat has (by European standards) tons of it and it's going to be a trick to find places to stick things like luggage that are both out of the way and out of sight. I really don't like having the feeling of everything living on top of you.
Granted our new place has tons of new features, but it seems fitting at this stage to say good-bye to this one for the time being.
