First things first, a very happy anniversary to the love of my life. Four years already! We did have fabulous tickets to see
King Lear before life got in the way, so we're going for a steak dinner and are contemplating some other form of celebration later when we get back to London. Maybe we'll finally go stand in line for those
Othello tickets. . .
In other news - New Year's was fabulous as usual. It was great to see everyone, though a few that couldn't make it were sorely missed. It was so good to see those who could come and doing the yearly catch up - some of us might even have started to resemble actual grown-ups! *shock horror* A play by play would make it sound rather dull though - minus
rabbitwarren's use of
raayat and
marimbanlr as human canvases, though that's a story/picture for them to share. =)
Then there was shopping with
marimbanlr,
tashar and
wyvernmoon at the Galleria in Houston and I made the mistake of going into the Emporio Armani store. . .while they were having a sale. . .and I earn my salary in GBP. . . still, it's a beautiful, beautiful coat.
On New Year's Day (no this isn't chronological re-telling)
alteredhistory,
freznor,
marimbanlr,
tashar and
soonerfan645 to see
Across the Universe, which completely blew me away. Julie Taymor is perhaps one of the most creative and imaginative directors currently working; I don't know that anyone could have pulled this off without it seeming trite, but she does and wow. I don't know that I'll ever be able to walk through the streets of NY without thinking of Jo-Jo's introduction. Huge kudos go to
electrichobbit for first bringing it to my attention - you are awesome and I'm crazy if I ever ignore a movie recommendation of yours ever again.
Otherwise, it's the same ole thing it's been for a month now - just in Houston, rather than Tulsa. I'm reading
A History of God and then will gleefully set into some rather yummy fiction. I also need to plan my study activities, so that I'm a step ahead come October.
On a totally frivolous note - I made the play-offs in our final fantasy football league for the first time ever and came in 5th!!!! Go Ravens!!!
