So, I randomly happened across
this website today.
Yes, you read that correctly. The UK has color guards. How cool is that?!
Even better? I emailed a group I quite like the look of, and though they've already started training for their winter season, they need more staff, and he emailed me back wanting more info on who I am and what I've done. I may get to work with a guard again!!! I dare not squee for fear of jinxing it. . . . Sheesh, I wonder if I'm even still good enough.
marimbanlr &
rebelowl42, would you guys mind being references for me, should they want them?
I'm so excited I could nearly burst!!!
. . .they even have
drum corps, wowzers, who'd have thunk? Where do they march I wonder?
. . .oh and this came up because I was correcting the caption on the the BBC that mistakenly labeled
these girls as "cheerleaders" (grrrrrrr NOT CHEERLEADERS. How about I hit them with a pom-pom thrown at full strength and then have them stand too close when I toss a 6 foot stick? Tubas don't move for pom-poms. They move for girls with 6 foot sticks.), when I noticed that
the wikipedia article had a link to Winter Guard UK. I love serendipity. Now I wonder if the BBC will correct the caption?
