Sometimes I forget. . .

How different the world I live in is from the one my parents do. I spoke to them on Sunday, as usual (though with extra Mother's Day wishes to follow up the flowers delivered on Friday) and mentioned that raayat was cooking - Mom was genuinely surprised that he would want to cook and Dad lightly chastised me for making him work on the weekend. Huh? Did I miss something? raayat LIKES to cook and doesn't get a chance to during the week, so he often will cook with me or by himself on Sunday. Not only that, but why should I be "made to work" and not him? That's certainly not what I signed up for. Granted, they didn't take a dig at me being a liberal, so I guess that's progress.

The rest of the weekend

Americans in Paris was quite a good exhibition. The room dedicated to painting the French country side was quite dull, but the rest of what was on show was very enjoyable. In fact, I have discovered quite a few new artists to be on the look-out for when we go looking at art prints to decorate our walls.

The Bengali Festival on Sunday was a bit more low key than what I was expecting, though we ate some fabulous food and enjoyed people watching (So much color!). We got there too late in the day for any of the dancing though, which was a bit sad. Still it was a pleasant afternoon out and good bit of fun. Though I got the impression there was a lot we missed since we had no idea really what was going on. We just ate our way down the street really. =)

We also watched Frida and enjoyed it very much. The director, Julie Taymor also did Titus Andronicus that is one of R's favorite movies of all time. I really loved her use of colour and how she wove the paintings into the story. Really fabulously made. One question though - can anyone confirm that the black Cabaret singer in Paris is supposed to be Josephine Baker? I wasn't sure. . .
