There are lots of single engine airplanes out there (the Cessna probably being the most prevalent one)... too many to mention. Unfortunately, most of them don't have a whole lot of range or power. There are companies who still use them, however, to do search and rescue, traffic monitoring, pipeline/powerline observing, etc.
Now the I'm fully licensed, so long as I get training in the aircraft, I can fly it. Whether it's a turbo-prop, jet, or whatever. However, I am still limited to the *type* of operations I can fly for. For example, I wouldn't be able to be captain of a 747 carrying passengers unless I got my ATP license. (I could still be a first officer though!) Things of that nature require more school and FAA stuff to deal with. However, operations that just fly freight I can probably do (unless it's sensitive cargo, etc.) Not that I would necessarily *want* to be piloting a jet carrying passengers or cargo or something. But you get the idea.
So what's next? Probably trying to get my master's... keep my instrument rating current... and try desperately to get into a PhD program where I can continue to work for NASA (or maybe even Lockheed since that door has opened up recently).
