How hard would I read Natasha Romanov fights Sydney Bristow pre-SHIELD? SO VERY HARD!! Also my god I'm now imagining Steve Rogers interacting with Elmo and I need to scream into a pillow or something.
At some point I'm going to write a Once Upon a Time/Avengers crossover because I need more Bucky in my life.
Oh, man, I honestly don't know if I could read fic like that. THE JOY OF IT MIGHT KILL ME.
Steve would be so SINCERE with the Muppets. Except it would be a little weird, because he didn't grow up with them. Coulson, on the other hand? Compared to how he looks at Big Bird, Captain America is just this guy or whatever, NBD.
I'm kind of imagining Hawkeye snarking at Big Bird since he grew up in the circus and never got to watch it and getting many >:( faces from Coulson plus lots of "Don't disrespect the bird, Barton." And I'm of course imagining Elmo calling Captain America Mr. Steve and now I'm dead of adorable.
MR. STEVE OH MY GOD I AM ACTUALLY FLAILING AT MY LAPTOP RIGHT NOW JSYK.
Bruce spends a lot of time with Snuffy, I think. Because it's good, sometimes, to be around someone who gets that just because you're big and could smash anything, doesn't mean you aren't really just gentle.
He never thought Snuffy was an imaginary friend. He's glad everyone else realized that too.
Things that happened in my brain: "Mr. Steve, why do you have a shield?" AND THEN I ROLLED AROUND ON THE FLOOR
Oh man all of the monsters would welcome Bruce because sometimes people think they're mean when all they want is to be with their friends and learn something new.
And Grover pretty much just follows Tony Stark around dressed as super Grover and talking about how he also fights crime. I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS RIGHT NOW
MR STEVE WHY DO YOU HAVE A SHIELD MAY HAVE TO BE AN ICON, IT IS MAKING ME :DDDDD SO MUCH.
(And then the inevitable hilarity of confusing the shield and S.H.I.E.L.D. Spelling jokes are always big hits on Sesame Street.)
The monsters have a meeting that Bruce isn't allowed to go to and he feels sad and left out until they let him know that they were meeting to discuss his Honorary Monster Nickname. He is Big Green Monster. As much as he felt part of a team joining the Avengers, this feels like ten times better.
OH MAN GROVER. He wants to be exactly like them, and he picked the WORST SUPERHERO TO IMPRINT ON because he's like "What are you drinking? Can I drink that too so I can be a superhero?" and Tony's like "...It's vodka, and you're seven." Which doesn't change Grover's mind at all, because this is IRON MAN, and finally Pepper has to say no because Tony's still kind of thinking about it, Grover's annoying but he's really sweet and it's actually pretty rare that someone wants to be like Tony in any way besides "rich."
If someone shopped Captain America talking to Elmo with that caption it would be my default icon.
OH MAN MONSTER FAMILY *____* And then when they're back on the Helicarrier and Hawkeye is asking what is the deal with that monster who's obsessed with cookies. He just keeps going on and on about how it's just weird until Bruce pushes him up against a wall and yells, "Cookie Monster is a good person!" and his cheeks have just a hint of green. He doesn't Hulk out but it's a near thing. But Hawkeye stops talking shit about monsters from there on out.
Oh god and then Tony invites Grover to Stark Towers to look at some of the technology they're working on. But he doesn't mean now when he's still a little kid, he's talking about when Grover grows up. But obviously Grover shows up (with adult supervision!) to Stark Towers like a week later in his own little bow tie because that's what he thinks grown ups wear in the city.
AT COMICCON I AM TOTALLY COMMISSION A MILLION SESAME STREET/AVENGERS CROSSOVERS. I WILL SPEND ALL MY MONEY AND IT WILL BE SO WORTH IT.
And the thing is, Bruce has fewer issues with The Other Guy out now! Because there's something about being part of a family that understands you that makes it a little bit easier- both to not become him, and TO become him. It's like they empathize with his struggle and that makes things less scary. He's stronger because of them

This icon is my life now. Also I keep thinking about Steve trying to explain his shield while trying to downplay the violence because Elmo is a very young monster and he shouldn't have to know about those kids of things yet. And then Elmo sees someone with a SHIELD jacket and Steve punts to Coulson to explain the difference. And Coulson let's Elmo hold his hand as he tries to explain while shooting "Not a word" looks toward Natasha and Clint.
OH MY GOD BRUCE AND HIS MONSTER FAMILY. I feel like sometimes Bruce will disappear for days on end just to hang out with his monster family. And sometimes he lets the other guy out and it's not violent because he's with other monsters!
But Tony is still Grover's favorite. He asks pepper to cut his peanut butter sandwich in half because he wants to share with his new friend. And Tony is just like, "Well I guess monster kids are pretty okay," and takes a bite even though it's peanut butter and banana.

I can so hear that in Coulson's voice.
