In the continuum of awesome/not awesome, does having GORGON IN THE GULLY make up for not having hot water Thursday morning when we specifically got a notice it would be out all day Tuesday and Wednesday and restored Thursday?
...Actually, it kind of does. It's a short young middle-grade book, and I'm reading it very slowly, just because I don't want my new Melina Marchetta to ever end. But it will probably be done before I get off the subway at work.
(JONAH GRIGGS, YOU SHUT YOUR STUPID AWESOME FACE, WITH YOUR [SPOILER REDACTED] AND YOUR [SPOILER REDACTED] AND YOUR [THIS ISN'T A SPOILER I JUST NEED TO SAY JONAH GRIGGS YOUR STUPID AWESOME FACE AGAIN])
(I SHOULD NOTE THAT HE'S BARELY SHOWN UP, AND FOR ALL I KNOW HE WON'T SHOW UP AGAIN FOR THE REST OF THE BOOK, BUT HIS LITTLE BROTHER CLEARLY IDOLIZES HIM AND IN JELLICOE JONAH SAYS "MY BROTHER IS MY GOD. I CAN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW DECENT THAT KID IS." AND UGH, I LOVE THAT FAMILY SO MUCH.)
(AND INTERTEXTUALITY, OMG, THE WAY ALMOST ALL OF MELINA MARCHETTA'S BOOKS STAND ALONE BUT FEED INTO THE UNIVERSE OF OTHERS, WITH FRANCESCA CONNECTED TO PIPER'S SON CONNECTED TO JELLICOE CONNECTED TO GORGON TO MELINA MARCHETTA HOW ARE YOU SO GREAT???)
:DDDDD
Hope anyone who celebrates [?] Veteran's Day has a good/thoughtful one, or at least gets some much-needed rest on my behalf.
I was going to start a reread of Jellicoe today, but maybe I should reread Piper first. In honor of Veterans' Day, it seems apt.
