I would seriously take every other flaw in that show without QUESTION if they could just make it clear that Shue is intentionally written as a terrible person who deserves shunning.
But I think they do! I mean, how many times has Sue totally smacked him down? She told him his hairography was an idiotic idea that didn't showcase his kids' true talents, she told him that disabled kids want to be treated like everyone else and not patronizingly like he treats them, she called him on the fact that his relationship with Emma is inappropriate and unfair to his wife, and I know there have been other examples I can't think of right now. And this is coming from the lady painted as one of the show's villains! Shue doesn't need a lot of help, though... he seems to be making some kind of stupid mistake he has to apologize for in every other episode.
The problem is that Sue is the villain. I mean, I generally believe that he's supposed to be a douchebag that everyone is judging, but I need for more characters who are held up as Good People to substantiate her point, if that makes sense?
