A vote for El Zarco is a vote for peace!
I voted (y'all know HOW i voted) by absentee ballot. Again. Since I turned 18, I have voted by absentee in every freaking election.
Which means I have never, ever, ever received an "I Voted!" sticker.
Today, the day before the national election, I am particularly bitter about this.
I want an "I Voted!" sticker. Because I did, dammit. And more than the free things one can get from voting (which apparently include donuts, ice cream, coffee, champagne, and sex toys), I want the damn sticker that proves that I did.
I should have photocopied my absentee ballot, and then taken it to a polling place and demaded Grate Justice.
I have been watching a lot of West Wing lately, because I cannot handle these days of watching the news and NOT KNOWING. (I am the person, incidentally, who starts up most episodes of Amazing Race by finding out who is supposed to be voted off that night. I have very low tolerance for suspense.) I'm very disappointed my opinions don't fall into the fannish hivemind, in terms of both who and what I am adoring, but I accept that is my lot in life. And it's better than watching any of the other political dramas I have easy access to, which- actually, I don't have any other political dramas I have easy access to. That is probably why I'm watching West Wing.
And also why it is making me cry.
...Tomorrow's the election. I'M EMOTIONALLY VULNERABLE, OKAY?
I'm trying to plan my schedule for tomorrow, because it is, obviously, a very important day. Every year I think I want to stay up until the election results come in so I can go to bed knowing who won, but I am honestly not sure if I can do that. I still remember how that worked in 2000 and finally going to bed because I had school the next day, and in 2004 I ended up going to bed early because I couldn't deal with it. Arrrrrrrgh.
I have to admit I'm excited, though. Every four years, I get to feel like I'm part of history. Even though my vote went in a while ago, it went through New Jersey so it barely counts, and - I'm part of this.
I'd like to spend today working on collages about this- it's the best way to burn off nervous energy- but I'm not really sure where I can go after this one.
