I think I understand now why people take cold meds recreationally.

I have set my LJ to "contains adult content" because, you know, sometimes it does!

I mean, the other half of the time it includes FLUFFY SNUGGLY MUPPETS, but why should that get in the way of some perfectly good internet content blockers?

I am not as up in arms about this as much of my flist seems to be. I think it's stupid, irritating, and annoying, but I have spent the past week neck-deep reading about censorship (Little Red Riding Hood banned for advocating alcohol! Little Mermaid banned for featuring bare breasts on mythical creatures!), and having to click a box saying "Yes, I'm fourteen" doesn't bother me. I was underage when Yahoo!Groups made you vouch for being eighteen. This is nothing but a new generation of teenagers not feeling guilty lying about their age.

I was much more irritated that the manage settings page no longer offers Dystopia (my viewing option of choice). But the comments in one of wisdomeagle's posts informed me that you can still use it, you just have to take an extra step and go here. Which is far better than having to switch to one of these newfangled schemes the kids these days use.

Hi! I am not a fan of change.

I presented the stupid project that had been terrifying me last night, and then came home for a delightful cocktail of my regular meds, Tylenol for my headache, Sudafed for my cold, and Xanax for my anxiety. I actually slept through the night, and woke up feeling, like, human. It is truly a miracle of modern technology. And also drugs.

Next week is my last Thursday class, and the week after is my last Tuesday class, and then I write my final paper and I'm done. I cannot believe this semester is almost over. Or that, next semester, I'm going to be taking three classes instead of two. And playing with lots and lots of kidlit again. And no more "This is a computer. This is how you save a file." or "This is a fairy tale. It was not meant for kids."

*glee*

CBS continues to show the same BB commercial during every episode of TAR and Survivor. I am starting to get personally offended by this. Over the summer we got new ones EVERY WEEK. Do you know that I haven't seen scenes which didn't make the show but they want to use to pimp on my TV since June? Honestly, it's just cruel. I was really hoping Strongest Man might make the ads this year.

*misses Ali in a vase EVERY SINGLE DAY*

I suppose I will have to spend the time I would have frame-by-framed through those thinking about Chanukah fic I want. (I have gone up to two Heroes stories, a Grey's story, a Pushing Daisies story, a Brothers & Sisters story, an Alias story, and a few others, including (bizarrely) a Firefly one... none of which have been written. But, um, hey, if anyone feels like pulling me through? I am TOTALLY susceptible right now, with the presentation done and stuff.)

I swear this is not the Sudafed talking.

At least, not JUST the Sudafed.

Probably.

grad school, tv: big brother 9, metajournaling, real grown-ups work with kidlit, purely theoretical fic
