It's gonna be a busy week
The weekend was good - Friday night was just about being lazy. Saturday I kinda farted around the house, both inside and out, pulled a few weeds, straightened up and tried to organize the shed. I really don't think I'm going to be able to put the bike in there - there's just no room, not to mention I haven't got my wheelbarrow yet. This sucks that I'm going to have to pay rent on a garage until I finally get mine built. I don't know if that's going to be this year or not.
All I've done since I bought this house has been spend spend spend money. And just when I think I'm done spending money - yup, I go and spend s'more. $3500 for a garage is a chunk-o-cash at the moment. That doesn't include the labor either. I'm also waiting on the Pataskala street maintenance dude to call me back about my drainage ditch in front of the house. He's supposed to tell me what size drainage tile that I need and the slope it has to be from the road before I can get started on that. Oh, and I have to find fill dirt too.
So anyways - Saturday I make a list of things and head off to Home Deep-o. OK, I never realized that a wheelbarrow cost $80. No truck to haul in yet, so I pass on by. I did pick up a chemical sprayer and some Ortho EVERYTHINGDEAD or some shit that's like $20/gallon. I buy 2 of them. Came home - took me a freaking hour to figure out how to put together the sprayer, but finally it works. I pour in each bottle into my sprayer, and spray down the driveway. Once that's done, I happen to think "I wonder if I was supposed to dilute this stuff with water?".....Ummm..yup, sure was....oops... I could hear the plants screaming as they fell to their deaths. There will be nothing that will grow in my driveway for 5 years... But since that was a few days ago, I can really tell today where I missed the spots in the driveway - there are two colors: yucky brown and lush green. I think I only managed to spray about 80% of it :) Oh well - it's not like I was planning on gardening there anyway.
Sunday was just helping friends move some furniture and then shopping at Oakland Nursery where I came home with a Wandering Jew. I have had a tendency in the past to be super mean to houseplants and deprive them of water until they wither and slowly die, but this one is absolutely gorgeous and I must keep her healthy! I'm going to try to use clippings of the plant to create groundcover in my landscape stuff. We'll see!
Only a 4 day work week - yay!!! Since I'm off on Friday I'm going to try to get the truck to get my mulch & stuff hauled. Hopefully try to get some of the front done. This is all new to me and I'm kinda scared, but I'll learn with trial and error. They're plants for godssake, not nuclear bombs.
Saturday will be heading to Toledo to decorate Mom's and Mike's grave. Sunday morning I'll go see Dad.Remainder of weekend will be spent either playing in the dirt or being with friends.
