Vacation, it turns out, is just what I needed.

Having a decent level of height, strength, and emotional toughness for my situation, I like to think that there are few things that flip me head over heels. I'm not talking about being pushed down, lots of things can just topple me, but few things can flip me over completely, sometimes several times in a row. Turns out, the ocean is still one of those things. I was somersaulted, held under, and pulled out against my will many a time. Dreadful fun, though.

I read a good deal, finishing In Pursuit of Love (think Jane Austen of the 1930s with a little Katherine Anne Porter thrown in), the Maltese Falcon, my collection of Roald Dahl stories and, bien sur, Nerd in Shining Armor, which was of course the most beach-appropriate and simply fun of all four. Lacked realism though, as there are not a lot of honorable 6'6" nerds lying around just waiting to have their already perfect muscles tanned. Family listened to Harry Potter 6 booktape during long drive. Eighteen hours of a delightful British man reading it to us, followed by long debate about whether or not Snape is really good.

Played Risk twice, lost both times. Exceedingly good for me, considering that I've taken to winning as of late and it's good to remind me that there are days when I won't get lucky and there are things that I will at which I will never be the best, but which I can still enjoy.

Also learned to drive a jetski. I took rather quickly to it, surprising since it usually takes me a bit of time to become good at anything. So much fun! I felt like a Bond girl, driving a jetski in my red bikini. That is, until there were screams from my two passengers for me to slow down, as they didn't have a firm set of handlebars to grip and were forced to grip slippery handles and pray for dear life.

Anyway, had a great time. Don't want to go to work tomorrow! But I shall survive.

P.S. Got a little tan and peeled a little, but otherwise color remains much the same.
