Me + My Family + Vancouver

Aug 26, 2008 02:39

So this is part one of "My family in Vancouver" I assume there will be at least one more post. It's very image heavy and I apologize ahead of time if anyone actually looks at these.

This is me!! Actually, more accurately, this is me fucking around with makeup and my hair straightener wondering what an Oiroke no Jutsu Chouji would look like. But yeah, I got all self-conscious about this because the camera added in weight that I'd JUST LOST. Well. Chouji it is.

Side view! Straight hair! What the hell!

This is what my hair usually looks like:

That's orange bubble gum. :D It's super awesome.

These are my plants! Mihashi died, unfortunately. He was just too far gone when I found him. Then Hanai died while I was on vacation with my family. He needed more water than I had. Tajima and Rio are still very healthy, though. And tasty, in Rio's case.

Sweet Potato Tenpura! This is the first time I made tenpura and it came out okay. I followed a recipe online about how to cut and soak the sweet potatoes. Anyway, Ye helped me eat this because that's just way too much fried stuff for me to stomach. It was really good fried stuff, though.

This is where I draw! This is HOW I draw. That printer is a spawn of Satan. I don't even know why it's still plugged in.

This is my tiny mountain of tea. From the left and top to bottom-- Yerba Mate (a high-caffeine tea), cocoa, Yamamoto (bought for the name), Jasmine Dragon x Rooibos Tropica, a bag of sugar crystals, Jasmine Dragon, white Chai, litchi black, EARL GREY, decaf black Chai, mango green, green + jasmine.
I like tea. If I wasn't so poor, I'd be out buying more.

... and now for the main event.

So on the first day, we all woke up a bit late and went down along Broadway for lunch. It was my mom's birthday, and she felt like Greek food so we ate at Olympia. Then we walked around a bit on Broadway. We went into the Greek store where I usually buy feta and dolmathes and my spices and olive oil and stuff. Then we went over to Kidsbooks and I found a Mountie ABC book for a friend of mine. It made me crack up in the store, so I hope she will like it. Then we just sort of wandered and took pictures along Broadway. Well, Mom took pictures.

After that, we drove down to Burnaby to Bridge Studios where they film Stargate.

Apparently they film Dead Like Me here, too? I was properly thrilled. It took a while to find it, but we did eventually.

Here is the Accent Inn where Jack met Maybourne in that one episode. This goes among the "stupid things D remembers" list.

This is the Home Depot behind the studio. Good thinking, Home Depot.

Here's the Sky Train rail that goes by the Home Depot. I just thought this was a cool picture.

This is how I've felt for the past few weeks.
Cue penis jokes.

So we drove up to Stanly Park and we stopped and walked around a bit. Mom and Dad walked down to the bridge and Nate and I stayed and chatted and rescued pieces of driftwood before throwing them back in.

Haha, okay, this is another Stargate location. The episode where Jack gets switched with the creature from the crystal and he goes into full angst mode about Charlie-- yeah, the alien planet was in these sulfur piles.

This is where I was standing when I took the picture above. This is just part of Stanley park, but they have these little stairs that go down from the walkway into the water. Naturally, I went down them.

Here is the world's best brother looking down at me. I think he was telling me a story about sharks.

My feet in the water. I took about twenty pictures like this, and at least fifteen minutes of footage of my feet being washed by the waves.

This is Dad and my brother in our hotel room. We had two- and Nate and I stayed up watching Alien vs Predator and playing around with computers.

This is all the wrapping paper Mom got on her birthday gifts lit up by a flashlight that she also got. My dad has a thing about giving flashlights. I don't know what it is, but almost every birthday, Christmas, random occasion, or graduation, he always gives someone a flashlight. She also got a camera... but THE FLASHLIGHT was the signature move.

Okay, enough of this massive post.
