So yesterday, I totally called the workout. First morning workout of the season, no less.
(cue eerie psychotic music..)
the dreaded 2K test.......
Yeah, my stomach absolutely killed from the 3min of situps two nights before and minute of situps the night before, so that really hindered my rowing. I couldn't get to the finish without hurting... plus, I was just Really Fuckin' Tired. So my split was exactly one second slower (to the tenth) than my last one. I think that if well-rested, I really could have gone faster, but Joelle told us we'd be doing lots of these this season, which is, of course, both good and bad. Good because it's a good test of improvement and because it means that each one doesn't matter as much, but bad because, well duh, it's a 2k!
So basically, a 2k means that you row two kilometers as hard and fast as you can. For me yesterday, that meant 8 minutes and 45 seconds of sprinting. By the end of the season, Joelle wants us down to the low 8's. It's probably plausible.
So at lunch yesterday, I was saying something about, "Man, I wish Ben would just walk in here so I could stare at him all through lunch..."
And at that second, he did! Talk about a psychic moment. He went through Usdan to get his mail, and I did not follow him. After that, I hung out in Jon's room (he really does give the best hugs), saw the video for Hey Ya twice in a row, and learned that Dan Levy really is not always as hang-out mellow as I always thought he was! La, what fun!
I'm a tenor in chorus, along with another girl and six guys. Bwahahaha... I've never been not the only girl singing tenor before! It's so cool to have someone else of my own gender there with me! And the guy who stood next to me (absolutely do not remember his name) has a really nice voice I could listen to for a couple hours....
Mmmm, I love singing with guys.
Not to mention the fact that (Holy Jayzus) our basses are actually BASSES! And by that, I do mean B-A-S-S bass. Wooooo-oooooooo! Yummay.
Then me and Naomi and Eric went to Sherman for dinner afterwards, and who should walk in but Ben? That's a record, two BSes in one day. And he ate dinner at a table a couple feet from us and whooooooa man, I was like, so wired I was letting out electrical charges the whole time. I'm not sure if he was looking at me... Murray has better eyes, anyway ;)
Then after he left, I hung out with David and Nomi and Naomi and Daniel, singing trad songs and stuff. So much fun. Then I headed back to North.
Last night, I was so exhausted, I got to sleep before 10pm. I mean, really. It seems ridiculous, but Lordy, the 10 hours of sleep felt nice. I haven't slept that much prolly since last semester. Not even over break -- hell no, I was always up early for something or other. Fucking mother... Point being, that after I got 4 and 6 hours of sleep the past two nights, now I'm doing the groggy-tired too-much-sleep-at-once thing. I s'pose I'm glad Jen can't do the hour steady state today, 'cause my body needs a rest. Maybe I'll go back to sleep... read the anthro just before class....
ah, to sleep, perchance to dream. Speaking of which, last night I dreamed GBS was playing a show, but a couple of notes in, the sound crashed, and then Alan came out into the audience, put some kind of plunger-with-pink-feathers-like prop on my head, and sat on my lap while audience members performed a talent show while we waited for the sound to be fixed. I sure didn't mind. And I was so happy he'd recognized me. It was like, the reason he gave me the prop was because I was the one he recognized first. I felt really good about that.
Then, the fixing was taking so long that my mom told me to go to J.C. Penney to find... pantyhose, underwear, a car CD player, and a bra. Maybe a camera, too. But they didn't have any of the things in the right size. Then I stopped to look at this shirt... it was like a sweater, but cropped really high... then there was a thin strip of fabric coming down over the stomach, and then another strip around the waist. Very strange. The design had lots of small horizontal multicolored stripes. Then I realized how long I was taking and rushed back (I remember seeing the intersection of 6th and I-25, from 25 onto 6th west, as I went back) to make sure I hadn't missed the concert. It was in the house of some school's principal, in the mountains. I hadn't missed anything. They were almost done fixing. Then I woke up, but I forced myself to go back to sleep, and I got there like halfway, so I knew it wasn't purely dreaming, but I made them go back in and do Consequence Free. But through the entire dream, it wasn't all of GBS I saw. It was just Alan.
off to ponder or maybe just go back to sleep.
