staying at home

Aug 12, 2008 12:59

woke up at 8:30 to call in sick, went back to sleep, woke up at 11:45 and am quite glad I did call in sick. I need it. I still have no voice, am congested and coughing, plus my eyes have that glassy feverish feeling and I'm fuzzy-headed. That is 60 euro I will not earn- but ugh, this is a bug I can't just power through. I need the time at home to get well and write. But I have a package waiting for me at my district post office (perhaps my new battery from Hong Kong?), a 20-minute walk away in Ballsbridge. I also need to get to the pharmacy, and buy food at Tesco. I can't decide whether to put those off to tomorrow and devote today to writing inside, or get them out of the way today. I can live on the food I have for another two or three days easy, between the mac and cheese and the bean-rice-tomato mix I plan to cook up next time I get hungry. I would like some beef, though. Ditto with meds, I have enough for another couple days but it'd be nice not to run out.

Candice's friend Melissa is here for a few days. Her accent is pure saffie and it's really really fun to hear her speak. It also contrasts how much Candice's has changed by living in NZ.

I'll have to go out today if only to buy lotiony tissues- the ones I have are going to kill my nose by the end of the day. Also I want to buy something nice at the pharmacy and take a bath tonight. Though I won't go into work, I don't know how much writing-work I can get done in this state.

Jens is coming by, though, to do the post office errand for me, because he is sweetness embodied. I'll walk to the pharmacy with him after that because it's on his way to his last errand, then I'll come home and work more. If it were any other month I'd cut today as a loss and watch movies, but transcribing is nearly mindless so I'll just see how much of that I can get done.

ling, sick, to do, work
