nanerean's shindig last night was a hoot. I got to be geekarific with friends, and am beginning to think that akakat should start a career as a comedian. We decided we need to have a Firefly-and-dreidel-drinking-games party, as well.

I'm working in my dad's office for the week while the main administrative lady is in Hawaii. Here's this week's office drama.
Corporate mid-wigs have decided to take over the office's main conference room for the week. I've heard they gave no warning. They just sit there in the conference room with their laptops and San Pellegrinos, talking in voices that sound like they think they're a lot more important than they are. It's a group delusion; they all carry themselves exactly the same way, and to me -- pretty much an outsider -- it's ridiculous. I also could have sworn they had beer in there during lunch yesterday.
Meanwhile, Joneen, who's the "receptionist" type, took a long lunch yesterday because she has a bunch of extra hours... and then called 15 minutes after she said she'd be back to say that her roommate had fallen down the stairs and hurt her foot, and Joneen needed to take her to the ER. I believed it until a couple of other coworkers said "Oh, that's not the first time she's used the ER story." I've heard stories from my dad before about her taking unapproved half-days off.

And then, not in the drama department, Robin. She has been really great to work with. Robin works three days a week; the rest of the week she goes door-to-door proselytizing with Jehovah's Witnesses. It tarnishes my image of her -- apart from that she's nice, way pretty, and effective in the office.

Since getting home I've had Chipotle, Whole Foods, Odwalla, turkey bacon and sushi, plus homemade latkes, and I think Z and a friend and I are doing Jose's tonight. Although it was snowing when I got home, it's been sunny and in the mid-high 40s every day since (though it'll get cold again tomorrow). I drove my car on Tuesday. Sweeney Todd comes out tomorrow. The cats are adorable and adoring. Not much more I could ask for -- except a visit from Avi. And that can't happen. Did dream of him last night, though.
