today:
flu shot (figure it's for the best what with this foreign environment i'm in, as well as me now being one of the at-risk populations -- go assmar)
fees office to get some of the required literature for Gardai registration, as well as an undergrad-loan-payment deferment form signed
concert at the National Gallery with Alon: the National Chamber Choir with a special guest conductor, Paul Hillier (A says he's famous). Tickets were E5 for students. It was a 50-minute program, and it was absolutely lovely.
After, we walked through a WWF(the wildlife fund, not the wrestling federation)-sponsored wildlife photography exhibition in St Stephen's Green, then discussed Lauridsen and other "urk-harmony" music at Tower Records. I saw an ad for Ratatouille on a bus. This makes me really happy, because I'd just been thinking of that movie recently and wanting to see it again. On October 12, I will be able to. Bonus just learned from IMDb: we get Golden Compass two days early! Suck on that!
So then was a ling-based library orientation, and afterwards tea and biscuits (and here was me hoping there would be wine). I chatted with Laura and Louise who I'd met on previous days, and met Richard and John and someone else, as well as professors O'Rourke and Singleton.
On my way out, I came across the ceili in Front Square, sponsored by an Cumann Gaelach and St. Vincent de Paul. Get this, droogs -- I only stayed for one dance. It didn't feel the same as a good aul' UCD time. Anyway, my shoes were not the right sort for dancing on cobblestones, so I went home feeling ambivalent about returning. and I didn't.
but what I DID do was WATCH THE ROCKIES WIN AGAIN thanks to Yahoo sports, whose page auto-reloads every 30 seconds. Amazing!
other than that, Jeremy and I are agreed to go out tomorrow night. I have to try this strawberry beer the Porterhouse is advertising. And tomorrow I plan to get my bank account started so that I can visit the Gardai on Saturday morning.
