'sbeen a few days!
(an accomplishment, not ljing all the time.)
monday morning: emma steered the girls' eight into shore at the start of the third of four pieces. we rowed back from CBC by bow four. thank god, the only broken piece was the skeg (easily replaceable and ... survivable to row. by bow four.) -- although there are a few more gashes on the hull now.
yesterday: I stroked. I can't keep control of the rate any more, though. Emma coxed and I told her some things to say. Customized her to what I like. We saw a beaver in the water! I think it's the first time I've seen one in the wild. we were informed that Amherst (also left in the racing lurch by MMA) will host us for a little race on Saturday.
this morning: Ellen announced lineups for Saturday. They're straight off of erg scores (minus Corke being in the A boat; Lily, whose 2k was faster than hers, is stroking the B). A: Lily, Sarah, me, Sara, Corke. B: Sharon, Lily, Rachael, Talia, Becky. Nov: Emma, Zeesky, other Ilana, Liz, Jess.
I feel bad that Rachael isn't in the A boat with us (stern three plus her made Georgia's Zoom Zoom lineup), but it's only for one race and Ellen was abundantly clear that these lineups are not set for the whole spring. Zsky is really angry that she's not in a higher boat. Her last 2k score makes her competitive for the B, but I say it's a compliment from Ellen that she's stroking. She says she feels it puts her on the same level as the girls who just started-- also, that stroking throws out her back. Oh, the drama!
yesterday, Janet walked into work and we chatted. I'd been imagining how I'd feel if that very thing happened, running into my advisor in my crappy foodservice-industry line of work, and it was just mildly unglorious. Could've been worse. Also, I finally discovered that she drives a red car-- the make I could not tell. I'm always curious about my professors' cars.
Yesterday: crap. a lot of crap... until the evenin'. I had a date in the evening. Drinks and nachos and a dinner we were too full for and kitsch and papasan with Paul. (he's new.)
yellow. incoherent. crack and craic!
