don't you wish your bow seat was hot like me

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD! he got a message with my van serenading him on the way to the afternoon row. I hope he likes it. speaking of "my van," it's not "my van" any more. Sharon desperately needs time away from the passengers, so she and I are switching for at least a little while. It sucks, but I don't want to be a bitch and say no, and she has a shorter fuse than some and really might go crazy if she couldn't switch. Maybe I can claim it back for the second day.

Last night I made spring-season valentines (you know, crossing out "Valentine's Day" on the Harry Potter "Hope your Valentine's Day is magical" and replacing it with "Spring Season") for the team, and got thanks all day for it. left little notes for everyone, and made me feel good.
In the morning, I was awoken by another room's alarm going off, then dreamed Talia (who's not in my room) had to go to the airport early, and said goodbye to her. At the boathouse, we had been left with a photo of us yesterday morning (guys' and LW v.1 fours) with a note "Thanks for spending spring break 2007 at Lake Lanier!" On the water, I stroked a four for 5-minute pieces. With Brett and Andrew offsetting Becky's rush, we won the piece, but once Dan switched in everything was shot to shit, and he was there for the rest of the piece. I felt like I wasn't in control of the boat -- and stroke really should be. We were the stronger boat, but couldn't do anything about it. For one piece Ellen had Lily give nothing but rates and time, and it was totally out of control. Also, I could NOT get my blade off the water for the entire row. It was a mystery to everyone. Ellen had me recovering down at my legs (usually you push the oar away level with your bottom ribs, for perspective).
however, I had the Best Afternoon Ever.
good lunch, longgg nap. Rowing: started off the afternoon negotiating with Lady Starboard, who I haven't talked to in a year or more and yet felt really good about it. My finishes were less strong, but really, once I got the hang of finishing on the other side and with a different handle height, it was as good as one of my okay days on port, which is saying a whole lot! Another light lineup: Corke, Rachael, Liz, and me. Liz needs work on her slide & keeping her head in the boat, but the lineup felt nice.
Then Ellen moved Rachael & me to bow pair in Lily's boat, behind SRob and SBrand. First I got in, looked at the speaker on my footstretchers, and went "ooh, a speaker in the right place." Then I looked at the new shoes and realized, "Hey, I'm in the Mai Resa, aren't I?" Finally, I realized I was sitting bow in a starboard-rigged boat and went, "Heyyy, I'm back on port, aren't I?" Still not as bad as Nate, who didn't realize it for an entire row and whose quote of the week (as recapped by me) is "What's my outside arm doing on this side?"
h'anyway, we did three-minute pieces. All the boats I was in were fasssst; the Mai Resa was incredible. We held off the guys until Brett replaced Nate, who went to a girls' boat. We were long, we were powerful, and we took water every time. Each piece only got better. The last one was a thousand, complete with sprint. My HR got to 194. It was gorgeous. We were giddy. It was the row Sarah'd been waiting for all week. Ellen drove up in the launch after the piece and said, "You know that zoom-zoom song on your ipod? That's what you guys looked like."
Yes, I have a piece of the Mazda zoom-zoom theme on my Georgia mix for this year. It's fantastic. Also, we have my van's novices hooked on Move, Bitch.
On the way in, we took a power ten with a glide at hands away and a slap down. I've never had such a perfect glide, and the timing on the slap was spot on. That's what got me giddy.

Ellen has now dubbed me Tenacious F, while CorkeLily call me Frankalicious. Me, I've come up with a new song. "Don't you wish your bow seat was hot like me, don't you wish your bow seat was light like me...."
During derigging & trailer loading, I leapt into the lake. Three or four cameras have footage -- Emma took a video on mine. I run like a fool, but I managed a gorgeous cannonball and my whole achy body went numb after that. Talk about piling endorphins on top of endorphins. Sadly, in the time I took to put on dry clothing I missed the team photo. SBrand says she'll photoshop me in, though I'd've had much more fun really being there. It was also a missed opportunity for a senior photo. Still, jumping was so much fun that I wouldn't have given it up...I think.
No eating contest took place, as Nate has an upset stomach (that he totally doesn't know how to take care of to get it better quicker). Silly child. He also wants to write a letter of complaint to the hotel because when they brought him a plunger for his toilet, they expected him to do it himself like a big boy (and because he wants to get himself a free night at the chain because that's "what they do" if they get a letter of complaint). We want him NOT to, as this is the only reasonable accommodation in the area that will take us, so we want to stay on terms as good as possible.

also, we are in two local newspaper articles. We had a meeting after dinner to tally scavenger hunt stuff, and emerged with candy, t-shirts, and the old (dead) shoes from the eights.

Most of my usual blisters are in full bloom, and after four and a half hours off the water, I still feel like I'm in a rocking boat.
Time to go home.

I'm out of Berkeley. got an email about it.
wasn't expecting much else, so i'm pretty okay about it. ladynomi, doesn't this mean we get to start a club?

dreams, grad schools, tired, georgia, birthdays, crew
