6sec improvement = within a good range, ellen says. between 1 and 2%.
the bad part was that I started breathing too hard before the 1000. lost a lot in the second 500. need to ... hope that stops happening. I think warmer air and more moisture would help.
next 2k: 2:03 or better, mofos.
had a nightmare about me and Z being kidnapped, but I realized it was a nightmare after only a few seconds, so I was able to wake myself up. I wanted to watch and see what would have happened, but knowing it was a dream ruined it because I was actively imagining the possible endings. also in the dream: the wife, taking a tomato from someone's garden, and Captain Ace.
call from Mom just to chat, and letting me know that family friend Lynda was arrested last night because she drove down the street of someone who has a restraining order against her. I promised Mom I'd never get so obsessive.
my next culinary challenge: recreating any piece of one of the dishes from Iron Chef America
Battle Chocolate last night (the link is a pretty good recap). My favorite: cocoa-powder-and-salt-encrusted bison tenderloin cooked in rosemary and onions over a chocolate-red wine reduction, with goat-cheese/chocolate hush puppies atop swiss chard in artful stacks. I wish they'd put recipes (as close as they can figure) for those dishes up online. Maybe I just need to rewatch the episode and take notes. Based on appearances I thought the challenger shoulda won, but he lost several points on taste. I'm disillusioned with that show; Bobby is always the Iron Chef chosen, and he always wins. On the plus side, Ted was judging and we all love Ted. Finally, Alton needs to shave, although I will always love his food-science-dork take on everything.
ETA 1:11pm: I just finished vacuuming with everything this machine will do.
