THE IRB FORMS ARE IN WALTHAM.

well, they're in braver's inbox, and then he'll print them in waltham, take them to e. ferry, turn them in for me (p.s. tomorrow is canonize aaron braver day). and then the IRB looks at them and gives me a go or no-go. and FERRY SAID MY TOPIC LOOKED INTERESTING! this is the best news I've received today. (how shit would it be if I spent this whole semester freaking out only to have the IRB turn me down because my topic wasn't a useful thing to study?) Máire helped me make my protocol (proposally thing) even more interesting and attention-grabbing. yet I kept being all nervous around her when I was talking about it. I think it's because I always freak out completely when I'm trying to talk to someone about something they know more about -- be it speaking in their language, talking about their culture, or rattling off political facts.

but today, there is nothing I can't do. I turned in the IRB forms, deposited my 50-euro check from TradSoc (amen to paying gigs), and... will have salmon and rice for dinner.

I feel warm and dehydrated. I always get a fever when I'm dehydrated-y. This calls for a BEER.

Also, Cinco de Mayo is coming up and I am having a celebration, even if that involves nothing more than chips, salsa and a Corona. It'd be the perfect opportunity to go try out that potentially-sketchy Mexican place in city centre, in fact.

Diarmaid invited me to Tir na nOg tomorrow. heehee! it's actually just a pretty little area with a couple of lakes down on the other end of campus. then there may be a boathouse party afterwards. the canoe club has its boathouse on campus, but only because they have to travel super-far anyway to get to their water, so it doesn't matter where they store the boats. and Lauren's 22 today, so we're going out to celebrate tomorrow. And TradSoc has a lunch tomorrow also.

think I'm going to Edinburgh may 9-11. I have to stay at a hostel because Rachel and all her friends have exams, but I can do that. all my friends here say Edinburgh is the place to go. Barcelona will have to wait. Also I want to take a bus down to Cork, maybe crash with any of the Arcadia people I met up on the trip to Belfast.

tomorrow is the end of term.

and life is good.
