just a little bit drunk now.

and all i can think about is boys. all of them. how nice it would be to be snuggled up with one right now. some are far away, some in china, some in boston, but some are as close as stillorgan.

went out to a pub with Laure, Matt, and Laure's friends tonight. emma had about a third of a Guinness-and-blackcurrant and couldn't stop laughing.
(feather-fucking-weight.)
Matt told me about whiskey, the Bavarian language, how he plays the accordion as well as guitar, tried trumpet for a while -- we just chatted a lot. We talked about America. he said he wanted to come to Colordo or Montana and then travel to BC and we laughed because Canada is, you know, farther away than, say, France is from Belgium. Then he told me a whiskey to try (he knows a lot about them). It's called Blackbush. It was good. I learned why booze is so costly here, though -- the alcohol tax. the more alcohol it has, the more tax there is! Which, yes, I know, makes sense, but at the same time, is dumb and makes me sad. still, whiskey is nice to drink. I suppose I also need a liquor that's not to sip and savor as much as to shoot. Malibu or something. Some day I'll go to an off-license and actually buy the stuff.

Today Emma and I woke up late because we got home reeeally late last night (I assumed the place would close at 2:30... we left at 3:30, when it hadn't yet closed, and then we had to walk a long way to find a taxi)... but she met a Spaniard while we were out. She thinks they're going to go out again tomorrow. We'll see what happens.) Aaaanyway, we finally got going and got to go to a service at St. Patrick's Cathedral, and it was Evensong, and it was pretty. I put to words a contrast that I see between Christianity and Judaism: Christianity is more imposing, high-ceilinged, "this is the glory of God and He is superior." Judaism just feels... more like a community to me, and like we can be closer to God and we don't have to feel that anything's imposed on us just to humble or impress us. Christianity is about voices echoing while Judaism is about this humming mass of voices all huddled together, always moving, too close to echo.

boys, friends, drunk, religion, booze, ireland
