apparently it got colder as the sun rose. when i left the room at 5:02am, my Firefox weather thing said it was 50 degrees.
Now, at 7:51, it says it's 44.

it was still a wet row, but not quite as bad as yesterday. I was starboard and Jonathan from the Springs learned about RATIO! We had Ashwin in bow, and he's probably been on the water four or five times this season. That was all shades of interestin'. But we had our lovely Lily coxing and we did not run into the bridge. I am convinced that a good coxswain makes all the difference to the rowers' moods and such.

All the flags are at half-mast staff POLE today and I want to know why.

Unrelatedly, the fall foliage is gorgeous. Someone remind me to bring my camera (in several layers of baggies) to the boathouse tomorrow or Friday so I can take this shot I've been dreaming of since novice fall.
Picture it: Glassy water with the changing trees sweeping over it in all shades of New England, a wall of leaves. Pointing to the sky above it all, BC's steeple -- and then the sunlit sky.
Anyway, I'm doing a bad job of describing it. I need to take a shower; I am FREEZING.
