I definitely started out the weekend well - I got back from a run on Friday, and all of the sudden the fire alarms started going off. So our entire dorm spent the next twenty minutes outside...where it was pouring down rain. Studied some (I never studied on Friday nights until I came out here) and then Katie, Jessica Schlener, and I watched Bourne Identity. That was fun, especially when the guy broke through the glass window and Schlener screamed really loud and ended up in my lap - reminded me of Shelli :)
Saturday night was Elliv. Elliv (the 'Ville spelled backwards) is a huge campus wide awards show. They spend like $20,000 on it, so it's a big deal. If you're nominated for an award you get to arrive in a limo or convertible and walk down the "red carpet" an hour before the show begins, and everybody is watching and taking pictures. And people dress all different ways too. Some dress up in prom or cocktail dresses, some wear jeans, some go as punk rockers or goths. I saw Cinderella, Snow White, Captain Hook, Tiger Lily, Smee, the crocodile hunter, pirates, Dorothy, Glinda, the Tin Man, Scarecrow, a clown, Kristine from the Phantom of the Opera, et al...
Doors opened at 7:30 and it was sheer madness. Schlener, Katie, and I finally found a seat. Some emcees entertained us between music/dance numbers, and awards were dispursed throughout in a grammy/Oscar type fashion (acceptance speeches, etc.) The show was good but not really worth all the fuss. It was pretty much an excuse for us to dress in ways we're usually not allowed to, and watch students sing mainstream music and dance (which is definitely NOT allowed, except back in our rooms, where some of us, ahem, can really bust a move :).
We skipped the post party (but grabbed a ton of food on the way out the door) and drove to Xenia to rent Bourne Supremacy. When we got there, none of us had an account or two forms of I.D. to create an account. We also didn't have Rachel's number so we couldn't call her to get her permission to use her account. We ended up calling Sterling, who was stuck in traffic in Louisville, and just happened to have her brother in the car, who had an account. So the video clerk then had to call him, and make sure we weren't scamming him, blah, blah, blah. The whole situation was embarrassing, but really funny :)
So today was ok too. I broke the news to Rachel that I'm not sure if I want to room with her next year (which didn't go so well), but we'll see what happens. It's not her, I just don't want to go to Willetts. I have to turn my form in by Friday. I hate drama.
Which brings me to my next point (don't smoke crack!)...no actually, I'm just super ready to come home for the summer. And see all my old friends. Oldies...but the best :)
