Well, hey, I forgot to update about the Hodels' visit. It was a lot of fun, a perfect end to a rather stressful week. E.J. really liked the campus, so now he has to make a decision. They took me out to dinner at Cracker Barrel (it was a marvelous time, Ed and Linda are so funny!), to Kroger where they bought me some fruit (Linda insists I need to be healthy, but Ed says apples give you gas), and then back to a play on campus called, "Bridge of Blood," a retelling of the five men (Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Roger Youderian, Pete Fleming) who died in Ecuador fifty years ago, while spreading the gospel to the Aucas. Actually, a movie on their story comes out this Friday, and I think my unit is going to go see it.
During the night, the rain turned to snow, and we have several inches. The campus security is freaking out and "grounded" all vehicles at 5:30 am. Seems kind of silly, but I guess this area has a bad track record for black ice and fatal accidents, especially involving students. Actually, the reason they moved me from my first unit last week was because one of the girls who lived there had died in a ice related car accident just before break (her roommate was driving), and that unit is still trying to deal with the grief. And a sophomore died two weeks into the beginning of the year, and my pastor's brother was killed out here in a car accident many years ago. So if you'll come visit me, BE CAREFUL!
Ok, funny story time. Yesterday I had bad gas (must've been the apples:). So later on, my roommate comes back and she's like, "What's that smell?" And I had my back to her, my shoulders are just shaking with silent laughter. "What's it smell like?" I said, very composed. "I don't know," she replied, confused. So she got out her bottle of "Romantic Wishes" from Victoria's Secret and "freshened up" the room. She also thinks it's gross that I went 3 days without a shower this week. She's girly like that. Ah, I just had a thought...Wait til she meets you guys!
