Cultural and historical notes: there are vague references to real historical events, most prominently the conflict over influence in Korea. Knowledge of the First Sino-Japanese War isn't necessary to enjoy this, though. :D? For the sake of world-building several individuals have been aged up or down from their real-life personas.
