Dream World!

Yesterday my roommate Maggie and I went to Dream World, a theme park on the coast, which features the Big 5 Thrill Rides: The Claw, The Wipe Out, The Tower of Terror, The Giant Drop, and The Cyclone (which was closed, but that was OK since it's probably the least thrilling of the Big 5). Basically, Dream World was awesome. A few days earlier we went to Movie World, another theme park on the coast, but I was dumb enough to leave the fake plastic memory card in my camera from when I was uploading my last set of pictures, so alas I have no pictures from Movie World.

Anyway, The Giant Drop at Dream World is the tallest free fall ride in the world: 39 stories. With legs dangling you're taken slowly to the top of the tower, facing away from it so you can't see any of the spindly structure that's supporting you. Once at the top you hang there for almost 40 seconds, either enjoying the view or attempting to make peace with your creator of choice, until without warning you're let go and you plummet to the ground below.

Remember Reptar from Rugrats? He has his own roller coaster:

Cool wheelie ride (centrifugal forces in action!):

Yum.

What's going on here?
