Twenty Questions - from Hannahgirl

1. If your lover betrayed you, what would your reaction be?  Shock, hurt, sadness.  Maybe anger, eventually.

2. What will you do if you do not share the same feelings as the person who likes you?  I’ll just say that it’s never a good idea to go with it because you feel flattered.  Flattery does not a balanced relationship make.

3. Have you ever seen someone die?  I’ve seen several of my kitties die, and that was bad enough.  I last saw my grandmother less than twenty-four hours before she died.  I was profoundly grateful to get a chance to tell her I loved her and that it was ok for her to go.

4. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?  Not so much confused as annoyed with myself for getting in the way.  I tend to trust the process.

5. What's your ideal lover like?  Funny.  Sweet.  Capable.  Giving.

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone else?  Loving someone.  For the same reasons that giving presents is better than getting them.

7. If the person you like does not accept you, would you continue to wait for them to change their feelings?  Never a good idea.  Leads to heartbreak and misunderstandings, not to mention a lot of wasted time.

8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?  Let it go.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?  My inability to sleep past 6am.  My inability to do a lot of things, but that’s neither here nor there.

10. What do you want most in life?  Creative process.  My chosen family about me.

11. Which of the 7 Deadly Sins do you think you relate to the most & why?  Ha!  Sloth.  That’s one, right?  Because I’m lazy lazy lazy when it comes to the things I need to get done.  And the things that are hard.  Inertia - it’s a doozy.

12. If you find out that your best friend is going out with your boyfriend/girlfriend, how would you react?  Can’t even imagine it.  That’s why she’s my best friend.

13. Who is currently the most important person to you?  This is going to sound insane, not to mention incredibly selfish, but I kind of am.  In the “I needed time to get back into myself and my purpose” sort of way.  Yeah, that’s weird.  But anyway.  Li’l sis is probably the most important, because being part of her coming-of-age is the most important thing I get to do.  And my wonderful coconspirator, of course, for a million reasons I don’t have to list here, because I think she knows them all by now.  ;-)

14. What kind of person do you think you are?  A bit of a chameleon.  Funny in context, but rarely when telling actual jokes.  Capable of wielding the charisma as necessary.  The introverted life of the party.  A listening ear and a shoulder to cry on.  Ministerial and irreverent.  Full of faith and doubt.  Seer of the big picture and lover of interesting details.  A writer.

15. Do you believe there is nothing higher than human kind?  Simple answer?  No.  And yes.  I believe that humans (and all creatures and things, to an extent) have a spark of divinity in them, and when we live up to the call of our higher natures and come together, all together, we create what some would call god.  The universe, working in concert, that’s the something higher that we’re all a part of.  It’s similar to the concept behind the greeting “Namaste.”  The divine in me recognizes and honors the divine in you.  So namaste, my friends.  ;-)  You are known, and knowing.

16. If the person you secretly like cannot recognize you, what would you do/how would you react?  Isn’t this like a previous question?  Move on, kids.  Really.

17. Would you give your all in a relationship?  I certainly hope that’s what I always do.

18. Do you have a motto? If yes which one?  This is a tricky one.  I have two, perhaps, both first found in a class on Women Mystics.  “All shall be well” is one, first said by Julian of Norwich, but given a modern day spin by The Gabe Dixon Band.  The other is from Dorothy Day:  “We have all known the long loneliness and we have learned that the only solution is love.”  A little unwieldy for a motto, but I like it.  Also a big fan of her.

19. What type of friends do you like?  Um, the kind who like me?  ;-)  My friends are an interesting group, but above all, they love to laugh.  We can’t get together without being in hysterics for most of the visit.

20. Do you have an all time favorite song?  This is nigh on impossible, but I’ll try to at least narrow it down.  I usually say School Night by Ani DiFranco, for the lyrics and the quiet majesty of it, and Language or the Kiss by the Indigo Girls, because Emily writes a mean lyric as well.  Heavenly Day by Patty Griffin, because she is magic and it is magic and yeah.  I’ve been having a strange, nostalgic hankering for Nightswimming (by R.E.M.) today, for some reason.  Walk Away, by Ben Harper, is another good one.  He has a way of stripping things down to their basic parts that is rather profound.  And Woyaya, by Sweet Honey in the Rock, is my favorite one to sing, partly because the melody is in the alto part (yay!) and partly because of the lyrics:

We are going, heaven knows where we are going, but we know within.

And we will get there, heaven knows how we will get there, but we know we will.

It will be hard, we know, and the road will be muddy and rough,

but we’ll get there, heaven knows how we will get there, but we know we will.

;-)
