I'm so glad I convinced you (sort of helped tip the scales at least) into keeping Blaine's freestyle in this chapter. Guh. It would have killed me not to have seen it next to the others'. That sparkly little hobbit. (Excuse me while I go gigglesnort over that ace commentary.) I think I like Blaine's freestyle most of all of them. I see Santana's as really sassy, sexy and flirty and all about power and control and unf (which omg I want to dance that routiiiiineeeeee!); Kurt's (well, Kim's) as more of a flash and fun and surprising and all about the wow-factor in strategically sound places - Kurt's clever, so he will have gone for crowd pleasing moves without sacrificing form and technique. I see a bit of a Mark-flair to that freestyle. Kim's little bubble of laughter after the flip squeezed my heart in the best ways! YAY! But Blaine's... Just wow. Just that high-energy, the sparkles, the attitude (cause you know they'd be laughing throughout the whole thing if they could catch their breaths long enough), and sass and om nom nom. I'd kill for that freestyle. Plus, I can't help but giggle insanely over the picture I have in my head over Blaine - in a sparkly, yet understated, bowtie (clearly not to out-sparkle his sparkly jacket - and probably sparkle-tipped shoes) - breakdancing. I can readily picture him accurately, and in character, perform the MJ kick-leg-twist only to in the next count go into a breakdance butterfly and finish off with some fierce jive kicks and and end in a Broadway pose. Because he's that amazing. (No I have not come to love Blaine at all, no, no.)
And can I just mention Jake and Molly and Grant? They are beyond precious, I just adore them to bits and pieces. Jake in particular because he's just the cutest thing on this planet, constantly clinging to Kurt's leg and being so honestly appreciative and supportive even if probably doesn't understand all of what's going on around him. I am making grabbyhands at him, okay? Cutie patootie.
“I knew you could do it,” she said, nodding decisively. “Just like that time I shot a dancer out of a cannon. She was perfectly fine. And the head injury was really nothing to write home about.”
I took a moment and laughed over this comment, re-read it, giggled some more and then proceeded with the fic. Genius. (Also, it took embarrassingly long before I connected who Sue was, but when I did, goodness me it all became that much better.) I love how she's all mean and grr and rough but still so cuddly soft - because you could totally see she had a soft spot for them when she came into rehearsals with them.
Love, love, love, LOVE that there's so much dancing in this chapter. As much as I see it in my head when you write (because I do, you know I do), I want it played out in front of my eyes. I have so much love for you writing dance, I can't even tell you how much. This was definitely not too much dancing for one chapter - hello, dancing!fic! - and it read so quickly! Sadface. That's one of the best and worst things about your writing, my lovely: it's so easy to read and get caught up in, which makes it end waaaay too fast.
Great parts about this chapter (that's, you know, not the entire chapter as a whole): Kim's sass, the fact that you made Hum-Dingel dance to Bad (LOVE!), Kim's fierce competitive spirit where she manages to be both super adorable, slightly evil and perverted about Kurt wanting to beat Blaine ("you just want the pants off him" SPARKLY HEARTS OVER THIS LINE OKAY?!), both Blaine and Kurt getting perfect scores, and Kurt and Kim's pre-dance routine. Obviously there's more, but you know, those stand out.
Love you, love them, love this. Still drawing lots of sparkly hearts over this fic. (LOTS. And in colour. Still undecided on any particular one, but lots of them.)
