2011 Year in Review

Jan 09, 2012 17:51

Well, this really took me forever this year.  The 9th?  Really?  That's just sad.  But here's my little meme recap of the year.

2011 - Year in Review

1.What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?  Completed NaNoWriMo, which was a major feat.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn’t really make any, which was probably a good thing.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes.  Haven’t gotten to meet the new munchkin yet, though!

4. Did anyone close to you die? Sort of.  Someone close to my love, which is always hard.

5. What countries did you visit? None.

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011? A little more financial security would certainly be nice.

7. What date(s) from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? July 21, for reasons both beautiful and bittersweet.  November 30, because I finished NaNo!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? NaNo, for sure.  (Are you noticing a theme here?)

9. What was your biggest failure? I’m still not as focused as I’d like to be.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury? Not this year, thankfully.

11. What was the best thing you bought? New boots!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My teenlets and the people who love them.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Republicans, usually.

14. Where did most of your money go? My mortgage, probably.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Ridiculous television.

16. What song will always remind you of 2011? Oh Child as sung by Beth Orton

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? Happier, which is a good thing.

ii. thinner or fatter? About the same.

iii. richer or poorer? A bit poorer, but isn’t everyone?

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Writing.  Always.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Sitting around, being distracted.

20. How did you spend Christmas? Trying to handle the wonderful crazy that is my family.  It went pretty well.

21. Did you fall in love in 2011? No.  Try 2001.  ;-)

22. How many one-night stands? None.

23. What was your favorite TV program? Bones, Glee, and the Sing-Off.  All fun, for different reasons.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Hate isn’t really my thing.

25. What was the best book you read? I truly read so little this year - only 25 books!  I’d say my favorites were Boozehound and Cinderella Ate My Daughter.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery? Florence + the Machine

27. What did you want to get? A lot of house improvements.

28. What was your favorite film of this year? Harry Potter 7 Part 2 and The Muppet Movie.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Shopped, went to Vespers, and had a lovely dinner.  31.

30. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Writing ¾ of an actual novel!

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011? I’m a real Northerner now.  I wear to-the-knee boots and scarves.

32. What kept you sane? My bestie, being her ridiculously wonderful self.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?  The aforementioned bestie will tell you that I have a somewhat unnecessary affection for Heather Morris.  …but, the dancing!

34. What political issue stirred you the most? Issues of equality.

35. Who did you miss? Grandma, at all major family events, and L, who has been a wee bit busy with her own munchkin.

36. Who was the best new person you met?  This is always a hard one.  Perhaps our new UU friend, who shares writing!

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011: Make use of deadlines, even made-up ones.  They help make things happen.

40. Would you say that 2011 was overall a good year? There have been ups and downs, but in general it was pretty good.
