Year In Review 2009
Here are my thoughts on 2009 and then that fun little music meme I like to do every year at this time. It’s certainly different from last year!
2009 - Year in Review
1.What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before? Worked the whole year in a regular 9-5 type job.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Didn’t really make any this year, but I did read (and write) quite a bit. That counts!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? A dear friend from high school had her first little girl.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No.
5. What countries did you visit? Just parts of this one.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? More patience with myself.
7. What date(s) from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Certain days in January, May, and July, because they were important moments with my three favorites.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? The writing, I think.
9. What was your biggest failure? Not always managing to be the person I should be in the lives of others.
10. Did you suffer any illness or injury? Had a brief bout with the flu, but other than that I’ve done ok.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Gifts for others.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My dad. He inspires me every day.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Those who can’t tell the difference between fun and obsession.
14. Where did most of your money go? Household projects.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Special time with my favorite people.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009? Hometown Glory by Adele
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Pretty similar.
ii. thinner or fatter? Close to the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer a bit, but not in the things that matter.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Writing. Always.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Feeling guilty.
20. How did you spend Christmas? Quietly, with the friends who are family.
21. Did you fall in love in 2009? No.
22. How many one-night stands? None.
23. What was your favorite TV program? Bones. I love it!
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I try not to waste my time hating.
25. What was the best book you read? I think it’s a tie between Julie & Julia, Ex Libris, and Eat, Pray, Love. I can’t choose!
26. What was your greatest musical discovery? Kate Nash
27. What did you want to get? More time.
28. What was your favorite film of this year? Harry Potter!
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Laughed a lot and turned 29.
30. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Always having an amazing sounding board who tells me the truth.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009? Pretty colors…
32. What kept you sane? Alone time.
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Ellen Page. I dig her sensibility.
34. What political issue stirred you the most? Equality and education.
35. Who did you miss? My grandmother. Every moment, but especially at Christmas. (I wrote this one two years ago, and it’s still true.)
36. Who was the best new person you met? Not many new ones this year.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009: Sometimes, you have to put yourself first, even if it’s hard for those who love you.
40. Would you say that 2009 was overall a good year? It’s been a mixed bag, I’d say, but good in many ways.
