2008 - Year in Review

1.What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before? Wrote a proper story, beginning to end.  And let all of you read it!

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I wrote more (a lot more) than the previous year, so that’s good.  I still didn’t exercise enough, but I think I’m ok with that.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes!  Two wonderful babies came into our lives this year, a boy and a girl.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes - a girl who was in my youth group - far too young and too good to go so soon.

5. What countries did you visit? None, actually.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? A really captivating idea for fiction.

7. What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Dec. 5-7 - because of hugs and general awesomeness.  ;-)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? The writing, I think.

9. What was your biggest failure? Not doing more of the “real stuff.”

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury? On January first, I fell and hurt my wrist, which bugged me for a few weeks.  Other than that I’ve been pretty healthy this year.

11. What was the best thing you bought? My new laptop!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? I’d say Sabrina’s.  She’s a class act, that girl, and truly delightful in person.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Politicians who feed on fear.

14. Where did most of your money go? The aforementioned new laptop.  Totally worth it, though.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Weekends with friends - had two amazing ones this year.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008? For Good, from Wicked.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? Sometimes happier, sometimes about the same.

ii. thinner or fatter? Status quo on that front, which is fine by me.

iii. richer or poorer? Nothing new here, either.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Writing.  Always.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Bumming around.

20. How did you spend Christmas? In a whirlwind of family.

21. Did you fall in love in 2007? No.

22. How many one-night stands? None.

23. What was your favorite TV program? DWTS - Season Six

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Nope.  Not really my style.

25. What was the best book you read? It was a weird book year.  I’m going with POG, for sentimental reasons, and Persuasion, because I love Austen big time.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery? Rachael Yamagata.  Hands down.

27. What did you want to get? The perfect job.

28. What was your favorite film of this year? I watched so few movies this year that I can’t even think of one.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Had the best weekend ever.  EVER.  28.

30. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying? My friends.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Dressing like a grownup can still be fun!

32. What kept you sane? Reading and writing, talking to my darling friends.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Rachel Maddow.  I love how she explains things and how much she cares.

34. What political issue stirred you the most? Equality on numerous fronts.

35. Who did you miss? My grandmother.  Every moment, but especially at Christmas.  (I wrote this one last year, and it’s still true.)

36. Who was the best new person you met? My Annie!

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008: Caring for people is the best thing you can do.

40. Would you say that 2008 was overall a good year? An odd year, but in the very best way.  I’ve been blessed with new friends, new adventures, and new ideas.
