Your character's world has ended and purgatory awaits them, a wasteland full of ruined buildings. The surrounding desert constantly wears down the buildings with a neverending wind. There aren't any monsters to worry about, no zombies or demons, but your characters are haunted by the ghosts of people they once knew and there's only one escape from ( Read more... )

...of course.

Of course that was how it would turn out. The Superior's plan had failed, the Organization on a whole had failed, then this. X wasn't particularly certain how it had all fallen this quickly, but the results were clear.

There was no Kingdom Hearts. There was no going back to his former self, no heart, no emotions, not even getting to toss off the emptiness that plagued him for years now.

Perhaps he had been a Nobody for too long, but he could not find any sort of pity or self-loathing to feel at the moment. He could not even pretend to be disappointed. What had happened had happened, after all, and far be it for him to question Fate now. She always knew what was for the best, yes? So the Nobody merely sat atop a ruined building, hood protecting his face from the wind, and watched the moving sands below.

It was quite pretty, really.

Forte had reactivated quite suddenly, and was surprised - as much so as a robot could be - at what he found. He'd been in deserts before, but aside from sand, there were buildings all around. He made a quick assessment of his condition, and seemed to be fine, though partly pinned beneath some rubble. He freed his legs, and started to wander ( ... )

Members of Organization XIII were taught the value of stealth early on, how to listen and wait, to go through worlds unnoticed. Luxord regularly made a game of it, himself, yet, at the moment, he could care less (what was the point of following the rules of a defunct organization? That would be silly). His eyes stayed fixated on the world below, watching the wind toss the loose earth around like a petulant child, fascinated.

It was so very pretty.

"Most probably, yes." He had only seen glimpses of others, though they all seemed... unreal, somehow. Intangible. He wasn't as pathetic or desperate for contact to speak with them, but since it was obvious this was not an illusion, X turned his attention to it after a moment. A machine?

Forte looked down at the rubble again, the pale, shifting colours. His world was one of bright, saturated colours - reds and blues, white skulls and purple wings. Now, there was nothing but shades of brown. He laughed.

"He would never let this happen. I must have beat him and not remember it... or if I didn't, I still outlived him. Rock would have died before he let something like this happen, and here I am." He didn't look like he'd been knocked offline in battle - badly scraped and slightly dented in a few places, yes, but the rubble falling could have caused that. But if he was alive and Rock wasn't, maybe that was good enough.

"After all this time, the Blue Bomber is..."

A failureHe hadn't said it out loud... someone else finished his sentence, and he spun around wildly - but Wily wasn't there. He'd heard that same phrase sneered at him a dozen times before, and he knew Dr. Wily had to have been standing right behind him ( ... )

...what.

Luxord rose an eyebrow as the thing began gibbering on about rocks and bombers, summoning a few of his cards to float around himself in case it proved itself to be insane. ...which it was quickly doing, really. How wonderful.

First he was denied his heart, then his world was destroyed, and now his only company at the moment was a lunatic piece of machinery that was beginning to hear things that were not there.

How the mighty had fallen.

"Do you mean aside the inane ramblings you seem fond of spewing forth as if I cared?" The Gambler turned his head back to the sand. It at least had the common courtesy not to annoy him. "No. No, I did not."

Forte stared at the empty roof for several seconds after the man spoke. He listened carefully, just in case Wily had... had hid, or flown away in a machine, or anything. But there was just the wind. Maybe it was some kind of emergency radio he hadn't known about ( ... )

What was it doing? He never recalled giving that thing permission to sit by him, none the less continue to speak as if any of the words coming out of its mouth meant something any importance.

Hmph.

While the machine sat down, Luxord stood, staring down at it from under his hood with a smirk. "Don't think yourself so special. This was hardly your doing."

Without another word, he stepped forward, letting himself fall.

Well, that was... rude. He looked human under the hood, when Forte had finally actually looked up at him. It was hard to tell, so he could have had some kind of technology hidden under that robe.

Either way, he obviously didn't want to talk. The man was either dead at the bottom of the building, or he was unlikely to stick around if Forte followed.

The robot turned and leapt off the opposite edge, to a lower building. He kept on in that manner until he was only just above the sand. He kept running, without any particular goal - mostly, he just didn't want to stop and think. A few times, there was a flash of blue in the corner of his optics. But every time, he turned quickly to follow, and nothing was there.
