It had been so long.

That was the first thing Yue thought when he saw that fountain again; he'd managed to avoid one of these ridiculous little "parties" for so long and yet... here he was. Again. And surrounded by glitter and garbed in some bizarre outfit, as per what seemed to be the norm for these things.

It could have been a lot worse, he knew, but he still didn't have to be pleased about it. And so he wasn't, and found a nice out of the way corner in which to stand, arms folded across his chest as he stared forbiddingly out upon the mass of hearts and glitter, waiting for it to all be over. Even that place with the extra wings was better than this.

From a dark and dreary institution of grays and yellow smiley faces, it was something of a treat to return to the bright colors, festive moods, and silliness that were part of the fish-fountain parties. The ballgown he wore did make it difficult to move around in. But if he was in a dress, surely there would be others...

But unfortunately, the first familiar face he found was wearing a strange costume, but it was no silver ballgown. Tragic, certainly, in that Yue would look so much better in the silver and shimmering jewels, hair all done up with flowers and trinkets. Yuuhi jingled as he picked up his skirts to greet the other, on the premise of just following a few bubbles from the fountain, popping them and giving chase until one led him to the guardian. He smiled broadly, lifting the skirts enough to curtsy.

"I'll never understand how Sakura- any of the girls for that matter, manage to move around in costumes like these," he shrugs helplessly.

at least it isn't the loli dress.... winged_moon January 31 2011, 02:42:35 UTC
The room seemed to be getting warmer and warmer the longer Yue stood there -- or was it his imagination? He shifted restlessly, wings flexing and re-folding and picking up stray bits of glitter and fluff from his surroundings without him being entirely aware of it. And even if he had been, he probably wouldn't have minded, because for some reason the decor seemed to be growing on him. Perhaps he just had to get accustomed to it.

Before he'd had time to consider that thought for long, though, he was approached by someone in a rather fluffy ballgown, and he blinked in surprise at the sight before quickly pushing his usual forbidding frown back into place. "Why are you wearing that?" he asked, one brow quirking slightly as he looked the magician over. It really did look rather encumbering and more than a little awkward to wear. Even if Fai didn't look ba-- wait, what?

hey he totally rocks the loli dress. :< not_rly_fai January 31 2011, 02:58:03 UTC
It was worth it, Yuuhi decided, if only for the look on Yue's face. Seeing the guardian wearing anything but that thin line at his mouth was an improvement, and the look for surprise? Even if it just lasted a second or two, it was enough to make him laugh.

"All the silly things here, and you're worried over a dress," he smirked, taking a few steps closer before trying to untangle one of the dangling earrings from his hair.

"I didn't ask you why you're wearing enough black to make Kuro-pii jealous," he shook his head and gave up on the earring after a few moments.

"But I'll be happy to trade if you'd rather wear it."

"The hell...?" Isamu stood close to the fountain, watching the bubbles spew from it with a baffled expression. The sad thing was, he couldn't say for certain that this was the oddest of these random locales he'd been brought to.

He reached out, slowly, and popped one of the bubbles as it came toward him. Then he did the same to several others. It was a way to pass the time anyway, and the longer he stood there the less annoyed he felt at the situation. It wasn't so bad, right? There was even a refreshment table he could chill out at until he thought up a way to escape (if that was even possible).

All the hearts should have been a major warning sign, but he just couldn't find it in himself to be too worried.

Was this a dream? It had to be some kind of weird dream, like she was planning parties in her sleep or something. She was even wearing a pretty dress and everything. It felt... pretty real, though. Minako was sure she could actually feel the fabric under her fingers when she examined the dress, and the mask pressed against her face in a very realistic fashion. Huh.

The more she wandered about, idly swishing her skirts back and forth to make the bubbles and mist swirl around her, the less it seemed to matter. It was fun, whatever it was, and she was enjoying herself. She paused to watch a strange young man popping bubbles for a moment, then wandered up with a bright grin. "Are you having fun, too?"

Wow. Isamu just stared at the girl for a moment. That whole look was entirely too fantasy princess for his tastes. Not that she wasn't still attractive, at least he figured she was under the mask, but he could really only see half her figure around that. Was this a costume party, though? He hadn't been given a costume, if that was the case. Maybe he was supposed to pick one out somewhere...

That was a good question, though. Was he having fun? "Yeah, I guess. Haven't been here long." Usually the answer would have been no. What had he done that had been enjoyable, exactly? Pop bubbles? Stand around looking like an idiot? He hadn't even checked the punch to see if it was spiked yet. At least he figured there was punch, but he hadn't even checked. He didn't even like parties.

"Oh, well, I don't think anyone has. I mean, the dream just started." Minako hesitated briefly, considering that. Even if it was her dream, it was possible that the people her subconscious had populated it with thought they'd been there longer. Maybe that wasn't the right thing to say. Though did it matter if she said something silly to a dream?

She finally just gave a mental shrug and reached up to unfasten the mask. He wasn't wearing one (of course not, it was her dream, so she got the pretty costume) but it felt weird to be half-hidden when talking to someone who wasn't. "It sure is a nice party, though. Really... pretty. And sparkly."

What the fish had to do with it, though, she wasn't quite sure. Memories of dinner?

Brainiac 5 sighed, but he supposed that at least this time there weren't any things like mistletoe holding him in place or demanding that he kiss people regardless of his feelings on the matter. So that was a small improvement. Perhaps if he simply kept to himself here, perched on the edge of the fountain and out of the way, this entire party would just be a minor frustration, nothing more.

Either way, it was worth a shot.

Nanaki had wandered into the ballroom a while ago and tried to look for his friends. If they were here already, they were well hidden. For now it seemed a good idea to tuck himself away and watch people.

Sometimes, however, people couldn't be avoided. There was someone in the spot that seemed to have the best view. He sat there anyway.

He gave the boy a nod and looked out over the room.

"I'm not sure this is the right place for me," he observed.

Brainiac 5 jumped as he was addressed by a large red animal that... seemed to have its tail on fire. It wasn't the fact that the animal spoke that threw him off so much as that small detail. Sentient species could come in all shapes and sizes; on fire was a little less frequent, however.

"No, I don't think it is really either," he answered automatically. "But I can't say I think that I fit in much better."

His eyes flicked over to the sentient's tail again. "...you're on fire."

"No," he agreed.

He looked back at his tail, which was currently swaying softly. There were a number of ways to address this situation, a simple nod, assurance that all was well or.

"Good heavens, would you look at that," he said, flicking it as though trying to put it out.

Dexter wasn't a big fan of glitter. It was too bright, too eye-catching, and it had a habit of sticking to everything no matter how much he tried to get rid of it. And with how much was around the place, dusting the furniture, the floor, and even the water of the fountain, it didn't take long for it to attach itself to his skin and clothing as well.

Unfortunately there didn't seem to be any ways for him to get away from it. The doors leading from the main area only went to empty rooms, and anything that looked like it might lead outside was either locked or simply resulted in him returning to the main room. So for now he sat at one of the heart-shaped tables, keeping an eye on the room at large for anything or anyone interesting and trying to pick the tiny flakes of glitter off his hands.

I've had an easier time cleaning up after a kill. How much longer is this going to go on for?

Why did this have to happen all the time? He was used to the human body by now, even if his current outfit didn't suit him. At least it was black and green. It was being thrust into this situation that got his gears burning. Not to mention he'd like to take a flamethrower to the sparkles and gushy decorations.

Maybe the wondeful human invention called alcohol would help. It usually did, even if there was no HK to take advantage of while drunk.

After getting a couple of glasses of the stuff, the tattooed man sat down at a random table, not even caring that some meatbag was already occupying it.

Nanaki wasn't fond of this place. Not so much because he felt it was sad to be from an endangered race, and therefore unable to find 'love', it was the glitter.

But he did like the bubbles. He watched one float about over his head.

Now wasn't this just quaint? Anything that glittered like this was either manufactured by Morrigan for a distraction (or worse) or very likely to get him killed by a massive horde of darkspawn. Though-- it didn't look like a dark, dank, smelly, infested cavern of doom.

It was quite bright and the bubbles were--

Well, they were nice. Ish.

And wasn't that the strangest Mabari he'd ever set eyes upon? "...What's this?" the sound of metal shifting would accompany his approach and kneeling next to the beast, smiling warmly before placing a gauntleted hand upon his head. "Who's a good boy~?"

Nanaki was too distracted by the bubble to notice the stranger until his hand was on his head. He tensed and growled under his breath before shaking it off.

"I suppose the desired answer is 'I am'?" he huffed. "Or perhaps 'woof'. But I don't know where you drew this conclusion from, however true it may be. We're strangers."

He supposed the human had good intentions. And was either very brave or very stupid, crouching down to this level with a 'beast' like Nanaki.

"Well, it's good to know at le--" the easy-going shifted hastily into something shocked, taken aback and-- somewhat suspicious. With a faint, not distasteful 'oh' his hand came away like he'd touched fire. If it was a Mabari it was incredibly intelligent for one.

A hasty look about didn't produce another person. He began to pat himself down for any poison darts that might induce hallucinations. When all other plausible reasons (plausible for him) were exhausted he settled for peering down at this... creature once more, lips pursed in curiosity.

"Tell me you're not Morrigan." She could shapeshift into creatures. He would not be amused if he'd just inadvertently gotten her cooties all over his armor.
