I got like 1940 on my SATs. Totally failed the Math2 in SAT IIs. Even my mother, looking at my scores, told me I wasn't going to get in.

It's not about the numbers. Because that's all they are: just placeholders, ultimately irrelevant values. Stanford is more interested in real human beings with something to offer to the school and the community at large than they are interested in someone who devotes his or life to a 5.0 GPA and a perfect SAT score.

Don't sweat the numbers. There's more important things.

Hey.

Don't jump on the SCEA bandwagon so fast. They really mean it when they say not to apply until you're ready. And they won't judge your application any less if you apply regular.

Good luck!

Well, if I don't make SCEA, wouldn't they defer me to the regular admission-??
The thing is, I am not sure where I should apply early if not Stanford.
Thanks for your advice, though!

You would also run the risk of getting rejected. I'm not saying that you will get rejected because of your scores (particularly since I have no idea what they mean because I took the old test), but there's always that risk.

If you feel like your application will be stronger by the time the regular deadline comes around, you really should just do regular.

Thanks for your input.
I guess I just have to wait and see until September
and until I consult with my counselor.

I'll apply early somewhere (if not Stanford)
where I'd have 50:50 chance of getting in.
(because if I get in, then I MUST go there- which I don't want
in case I get in to Stanford- or I am looking for non-binding
early programmed schools)

Thanks again.
I laughed so hard when I read about your plan to make MIT website to say
"Stanford rocks!" Gee, I already feel like I am part of Stanford. (T-T)

Thanks.

I've always thought that applying early gave me two chances -- early, and then regular.

The fact is, you really only get one chance. Get in EITHER early OR regular, because very, very, very few people get deferred early and then accepted regular -- be realistic about the odds.

Yeah, now I am more tilted to apply regular.
I was just wondering if applying early would show any devotion or fondness over Stanford. I guess not, because it's a non-binding program.
I am going to apply for Questbridge.
Thank you very much! :D

No, Stanford does not show any preference towards early-applyers. Maybe they do say to themselves, "Oh, look, you love us so much you applied to us early," but it probably wouldn't affect their actual decision. They'd probably moreso go, "Oh, you're ready by our early deadline."

Good luck!!
