we were expecting one half of my research project to get started as soon as we got a formal letter from the WVSP saying that it could. as it turns out, the WVSP doesn't have the authority to OK it...the FBI has to give them that authority. that should happen in the next week or so.
in the meantime, we decided to get started on the second half of my research project. however, since we hadn't expected to be starting on it so soon, we hadn't ordered the necessary reagents yet. normally, reagents can be ordered monday and will get here friday. however, these reagents have to be custom made and highly purified, so they will take a week or two to arrive.
thus, i have nothing to do for a little while. and then the floodgates will open, and i will have lots and lots to do for a long long time.
rather than do nothing for a week now, then rush to do as much as i can before taking a week or two off at the end of the summer (after our internships have ended, before classes start) -- i'm not sure how long i woudl actually get at the end of the summer, because i get a first-year GA for my project, and we're going to ask them to come in a week or two early for training and such -- instead, i'm going to take a week off now, and take less (or no) time off at the end of the summer.
so it looks extremely likely that i will be in atlanta next week. surprise!!!
i guess i should have expected as much, since my project involves a state agency, a federal agency, two educational institutions, a private commercial company, all the above parties' lawyers, and a whole slew of intellectual property issues.
