I had to go talk to Turu about Gaiala, and about some work stuff. We ended up
talking about problems I was having with Kana
Turgon: *at his desk, reading through some reports*
Ecthelion: *knocks at the door* Hey boss.
Turgon: I'm missing your latest report, I think.
Ecthelion: I have it right here. *hands it to him*
Turgon: Good. *starts browsing through it* How are you, otherwise?
Ecthelion: Okay. *sits and waits while he reads*
Turgon: Just okay? *looks up*
Ecthelion: *nods* So, it's in the report, but I just wanted to make sure you're okay with the humans training with the guard.
Turgon: If you feel they're qualified, I have no problem with it.
Ecthelion: Well, Theo's just a beginner, but I've got him doing basic stuff. Thorongil is very promising. I think we can use him on scouting missions.
Turgon: *nods* Sounds good. *sets aside the report*
Ecthelion: And one other thing. There's another new arrival. She ended up in the chocolate fountain.
Turgon: Oh?
Ecthelion: Yes, her name is Gaiala, and she's evidently a Teleri, from Alqualonde. She's quite confused, and wants to go home. And she's young.
Turgon: How young? Do we need to find a gaurdian for her?
Ecthelion: I think so. I brought her home, so she could clean up, and Kana gave her some clothes. I left her sleeping on the couch.
Turgon: *nods* How is Kana getting on with her?
Ecthelion: Um. Okay? Ish? You know how she gets. But once she realized how young Gaiala was, she calmed down a bit.
Turgon: Yeah. Send your Gaiala to me as soon as you can, I'll talk to her and see about housing her. And how is Kana, otherwise?
Ecthelion: She's okay.
Turgon: She wasn't hurt at all?
Ecthelion: ...hurt?
Turgon: I'll take that as a no. She and Ar got into a fight. Or perhaps it was a beating, all things considered.
Ecthelion: What?!
Turgon: I didn't think she'd tell you. Ar didn't want me to tell, either.
Ecthelion: *shaking his head* Shit. Was Ar hurt?
Turgon: A bit bruised. I think Kana was just trying to scare her. This time.
Ecthelion: *rubs his head* Damn.
Turgon: I'm keeping them as far apart as possible for now.
Ecthelion: *sighs* Probably a good idea.
Turgon: She'll be less possessive when she feels more secure with you.
Ecthelion: I hope so. I'm sorry.
Turgon: It's not your fault. *puts a hand on his shoulder* You can't help being so lovable.
Ecthelion: *soft chuckle* I guess. But if she's hurting people because of me...
Turgon: Just keep reassuring her. It'll pass.
Ecthelion: I think I've scared her.
Turgon: Oh?
Ecthelion: I... mentioned marriage. I thought she'd like the idea. But she's been upset ever since.
Turgon: Ah. *considers* Has she said why?
Ecthelion: She's afraid that things will change. She's happy with the way we are.
Turgon: *almost to himself* No, that's what she told you. What's her real concern?
Ecthelion: *just looks at him*
Turgon: Well. *considers, rubs his chin* I should just ask her. If she's upset, she'll want to talk to either myself or Russa.
Ecthelion: *nods, that doesn't exactly make him feel better*
Turgon: I can let you know once I see her?
Ecthelion: Sure.
Turgon: If you want to know my guess? I think it must be, at least partly, related to the reason she still insists on being a brother or uncle.
Ecthelion: Mmm. *nods*
Turgon: Maybe... try flattering her more that way? See if it has an effect.
Ecthelion: I could, yeah.
Turgon: Or just sweep her off her feet again. *smirks* I bet you could manage that.
Ecthelion: *smile smile*
Turgon: Maybe do something to prove to her that you belong to only her?
Ecthelion: I am not sure what exactly that would be.
Ecthelion: I kind of thought the marriage thing would do that.
Turgon: *nod* But she's afraid of that. What about... hmmn, I know what sort of thing to do, but I'm not sure what that thing would be. Basically... you need to offer your throat to the wolf.
Ecthelion: *arches an eyebrow*
Turgon: *rubs his side a little* Do something to prove you trust her beyond all else.
Ecthelion: I do, though. I don't know what I can do to prove that.
Turgon: I can't think of anything -reasonable- to suggest.
Ecthelion: ....do you have -unreasonable- suggestions?
Turgon: Well. That *gestures to his side* started as such a motion.
Ecthelion: I don't think...
Turgon: Don't.
Ecthelion: Don't?
Turgon: Don't do something that drastic.
Ecthelion: But you said...
Turgon: That idea, but don't be stupid like me.
Ecthelion: *sighs and looks at him* Okay.
Turgon: I'm not helping, am I?
Ecthelion: No. You are. I mean, you're trying, and I appreciate that. *smiles*
Turgon: *wraps an arm around him* Maybe just try talking to her about it? It could be that simple.
Ecthelion: *leans on him a little* Yeah. That's what I should do.
Turgon: It's a good way to show you trust her. *kisses his cheek*
Ecthelion: *nuzzles him* Yeah. I -do- trust her.
Turgon: Show her. Love is the most important thing.
Ecthelion: *softly* I guess I just don't know how to show her any more than I already do.
Turgon: This might sound odd, coming from me, but there's so much more to love than sex. I think you two need to just sit and talk for a long while.
Ecthelion: *thinks they -do- talk, but* Okay.
Turgon: You came to me when you had questions about her diary, came to me to ask about her past... you need to get to a place where you can ask her.
Ecthelion: *nods* Of course. You're right.
Turgon: I know. And you should be with her. I think she needs you as badly as you need her, she's just not ready to admit it.
Ecthelion: I just...I don't know if she can talk to me. If she trusts me enough.
Turgon: Oh? *tilts his head* How could you expect her to marry you if you don't think she can trust you?
Ecthelion: *shrugs, looking miserable*
Turgon: *hugs tight* Lio. She gave you her diary that even -I- haven't seen. That has to mean something.
Ecthelion: *nods again*
Turgon: Go home. Tell her you need her. Let her take care of you.
Ecthelion: Okay. Right.
Turgon: I know she loves you. That's half the battle. *strokes his cheek*
Ecthelion: *hugs him* Thank you.
Turgon: Hey, what are friends for? *hugs tight*
Ecthelion: *clings a bit*
Turgon: *whispers* Cling to her, not me. Wrap yourself around her so thoroughly that you become one being.
Ecthelion: *thoughtful* I'm going to try.
Turgon: No, Lio, you're going to succeed. That's what you do.
Ecthelion: *hesitates* ... you think so?
Turgon: Yes. Remember what I always say, the game isn't over until you've won it.
Ecthelion: *small smile* Of course.
Turgon: Besides, this is you. How could she resist you?
Ecthelion: *shrugs, tries to grin* You're right. Yeah.
Turgon: *kisses* Do you trust me?
Ecthelion: I do, yeah.
Turgon: Then put faith in yourself.
Ecthelion: *that's harder, but* Okay.
Turgon: I believe you can do this. And I believe she wants you to win, too. She's scared, but she's not pushing you away as I know she could very well try to
Ecthelion: *nods* Thanks.
Turgon: *smiles* It's all true, you know.
Ecthelion: I believe you. I'm just...
Turgon: What?
Ecthelion: *softly* ...scared I'm going to fuck this up even more than I have.
Turgon: *firmly* You won't. You haven't fucked up yet.
Ecthelion: I haven't?
Turgon: No. She's still with you, isn't she?
Ecthelion: *nods, smiling*
Turgon: She just needs time, and to learn to trust you fully. You can give her that.
Ecthelion: Yeah. Okay.
Turgon: Nothing to worry about. And, hey, the sex is good, too.
Ecthelion: *laughs a little* It is. Very good.
Turgon: Exactly.
Ecthelion: Okay. I'm going to go talk to her now.
Turgon: Should I wish you good luck?
Ecthelion: If you think I need it.
Turgon: Not really.
Ecthelion: *smiles* Thanks, Turu.
Turgon: *winks* Of course. I know he was trying to help, but he made me more worried that I was doing things wrong. So I went home to talk to Kana.
I had to apologize for the whole marriage thing.
Maglor: *is sitting in the windowseat with a cup of tea, waiting for Lio*
Ecthelion: *enters the room and sees her* Hi baby.
Maglor: *looks up and smiles* Lio...
Ecthelion: *goes over and sits with her, leaning in to kiss her*
Maglor: *returns his kiss* I missed you.
Ecthelion: I missed you too.
Maglor: You should try this. *offers her tea cup to him* It's a new blend I got. It has a lot of cinnamon in it. I quite like it.
Ecthelion: *takes it and sips* Mmm, that's good. I really like the taste.
Maglor: I think it's my new favourite. The flavour reminds me a little of you.
Ecthelion: *surprised chuckle* Me?
Maglor: It's warm and a bit spicy. Exciting, but comforting.
Ecthelion: *smiles and sips again* That's me, hmmm?
Maglor: On the surface.
Ecthelion: Oh? And beneath the surface?
Maglor: Sweet, sensitive, *kisses* brilliant, considerate, lovable, ...mine.
Ecthelion: *sets the teacup aside and takes her hands in his* You know I am, right? All yours. Totally.
Maglor: *nods*
Ecthelion: I... I'm sorry about bringing up marriage. I didn't mean to upset you.
Maglor: That's... it's not you, love. *sighs* I want you more than anything. I just don't know how I feel about marriage.
Ecthelion: *squeezes her hand* Tell me what bothers you. I need to understand.
Maglor: I. It. Uh. *not sure how to explain, bites her lip and looks at him*
Ecthelion: Just try.
Maglor: *deep breath, really quietly* I'm not a good person like you are. You don't deserve to be tied down to a monster.
Ecthelion: Baby. I don't believe you're a monster. You can tell me that over and over, and I'm just never going to see it.
Maglor: You will. And then you'll leave. You'll find someone who deserves you. *sighs* I can't be a wife, anyway.
Ecthelion: *firmly* You need to listen to me. I'm not going to see you as a monster. I look at you, and I see someone I can't believe I deserve - so good to me, so loving, so smart and thoughtful and brilliant and beautiful....
Maglor: Lio... I don't understand. *begins to mist up*
Ecthelion: *sighs* I know all about you. You gave me your journal. I know what you went through, and what you did. And you're -still- not a monster to me. I'm not going to leave you.
Maglor: *leans against him, pulling his arms around her* Why, Lio? Why? What do you see that no one else does? *sobbing slightly*
Ecthelion: *rocks her* I just see the woman I love, the person who has welcomed me into her life and her home and her heart, who has made me happier than I've been in years.
Maglor: *between sniffles* Not. A. Wo. Man.
Ecthelion: *holds her tight* Baby, fine. Whatever word you want. I love you. Man, woman, girl, boy. I love -you-.
Maglor: *sobs loudly and clings*
Ecthelion: *whispers, as he rocks and comforts her* It doesn't matter to me, you know? I call you my girl but you don't have to be that. You don't have to be a wife. You, what's inside, that's what I love.
Maglor: Lio. *nuzzles his neck miserably* I just, I... *not sure at all*
Ecthelion: *kisses her temple* You?
Maglor: *simply* I love you to death. I do. But I'm really not ready yet.
Ecthelion: *nods* Okay. Not ready for me? I know... I know we've done this all really fast.
Maglor: We really have. *starting to calm down again* Let's live together for a while, first, see how that goes.
Ecthelion: *hates saying it, but offers* I can... move back out, if... that would make it easier.
Maglor: NO! *catches herself, blushes* Please don't.
Ecthelion: *small smile* You sound sure about that.
Maglor: *in her whiniest voice* I need you.
Ecthelion: *hugs her tight* I need you too, you know? More than anything.
Maglor: *nods and nuzzles* Mine.
Ecthelion: *whispers* I want you to know, I trust you completely. And hope that you can feel that way about me too, someday.
Maglor: I'm trying. I really want to.
Ecthelion: *admits* I've been so worried....
Maglor: About? *tugs him closer*
Ecthelion: You. I know I upset you, talking about marriage. I thought.... maybe you were getting scared off.
Maglor: Maybe... a little. I was scared. What if you didn't want me anymore when I couldn't say yes? *rests her head on his chest*
Ecthelion: I ALWAYS want you. I just was afraid too... like maybe I'd broken us.
Maglor: Me too. I want to do anything it takes to make you happy... but I couldn't do that. I can't. Not yet.
Ecthelion: Baby, I never wanted you to do it to make me happy. I wanted you to be happy about doing it.
Maglor: I'm sorry...
Ecthelion: No! I don't want you to be sorry either! *sighs* -I'm- sorry. I never should have said anything. I just thought... it would be something that you liked. I was wrong. Let's just.... well, I know we can't forget it, but let's just put it aside, for now. Okay? It doesn't matter.
Maglor: It does matter. Because you want it. *strokes his face* I can't give it to you yet, but I think, eventually, yes.
Ecthelion: Only, only if you want it too. Okay?
Maglor: I want you?
Ecthelion: *kisses her* And I want you. With me. Always.
Maglor: You might get what you wish for, if you're not careful.
Ecthelion: *shakes his head*
Maglor: I want a bath, Lio. With flower petals floating on the water.
Ecthelion: *nods* Okay. Let's do that.
Maglor: And wine - red? And lots of cuddling?
Ecthelion: Mmm. Go fill the tub, I'll get the wine.
Maglor: *kisses* Thank you. *goes*
Ecthelion: *goes off to get the wine, opening the bottle and bringing two glasses with him*
Maglor: *has gotten the tub ready - nice and hot so they can stay in a long time - and even gotten rose petals for it, though who knows where from, and is adding a few lightly scented candles through the room*
Ecthelion: *smiles as he enters the room with the wine* Ooo, looks good.
Maglor: Beauty for my beauty. *shrugs simply*
Ecthelion: *puts down the wine and the glasses on the ledge by the tub, and starts helping her off with her dress*
So, that went okay and we had a nice night, but
Maglor: *awake, but wrapped possessively around Lio, has her head on his chest to listen to his heart*
Ecthelion: *just starting to wake up*
Maglor: *singing softly to herself, an old love song, and tracing light circles on his stomach with her finger*
Ecthelion: *nuzzles her hair*
Maglor: *tilts her head up to look at him* I'm skipping a meeting because I couldn't stand the thought of not being here when you woke up this morning.
Ecthelion: *cups her cheek* I'm glad. I would have missed you. And worried.
Maglor: You shouldn't worry so much. *nuzzles his hand* You -should- miss me, though.
Ecthelion: *shrugs* I always do.
Maglor: Me too. *licks his hand*
Ecthelion: *looks away from her* I haven't screwed up too much, have I?
Maglor: Mmmn. *raises a hand to turn his face back to her* Do you think you would be here if you had?
Ecthelion: *shrugs* I guess not.
Maglor: You discredit me by thinking I should be foolish enough to keep someone who failed me around. Or worse, that I could love someone who wasn't absolutely wonderful in every way.
Ecthelion: *small smile* Sorry.
Maglor: Lover. *gives him a certain Look* Don't be sorry. *shifts so she's straddling him and leans in to kiss gently*
Ecthelion: *kisses back* I just...don't want to screw things up.
Maglor: You won't. *rubs her nose against his* I won't let you.
Ecthelion: Do I talk to you enough? Do you need to talk to me more?
Maglor: What is enough? *shrugs* We should just talk where we feel comfortable. Things break when you try to force them.
Ecthelion: Mmm. I thought so. But... I just don't want you to think you CAN'T talk to me. That you have to talk to Russa or Turu, if you need something.
Maglor: *nods* I'm learning that. You are becoming a close friend, as well as my lover. *rests against him*
Ecthelion: *tightens his arms around her* I want that...
Maglor: Mmhmmn. *nuzzles and whispers* Even a heartbeat takes time.
Ecthelion: I know. And I know you need to talk to them....I just...
Maglor: You just...?
Ecthelion: *sighs* I don't know how to explain it. I guess sometimes I just feel like I'm not what you need, or I'm not doing something right, if you can't talk to me.
Maglor: I don't... I don't really talk a lot to anyone.
Ecthelion: *nods* I think...that might be why I get worried. *is really stuck on what Turu said about talking to her*
Maglor: *softly* I'm strong.
Ecthelion: *idly stroking his finger across her collarbone* I know you are. But I want to be here for you. I don't want you to shut me out.
Maglor: I'm not trying to. You have to realize you're fighting centuries of habit in this case.
Ecthelion: *nods* I know. I don't mean to make it harder. But *admits* that's when I get worried, and scared.
Maglor: I'm sorry. *hugs tightly*
Ecthelion: *nuzzles her and clings a bit*
Maglor: Everything's okay, lover.* kisses along his neck* I promise it is.
Ecthelion: Okay. *pushes his face into the crook of her neck* Okay.
Maglor: *holds him there, stroking soothingly* My love, my dearest love. I will always take care of you and keep you safe.
Ecthelion: *whispers against her neck* I know...
Maglor: *smiles gently* I'm glad.
Ecthelion: *still whispering* You know I'll do the same for you?
Maglor: I would doubt your love, if you didn't.
Ecthelion: Good. I'm glad you don't doubt me.
Maglor: *wry smile* I question your sanity, but no, I don't doubt you.
Ecthelion: *looks up at her with a small grin* Hey...
Maglor: I can't even imagine the number of warnings you've ignored in your desire to be with me. Surely that suggests madness?
Ecthelion: *runs his fingers through her hair* So many warnings. But I know better.
Maglor: Do you? What if they're right?
Ecthelion: I think... they all tell me I should be afraid of you. But I'm not. I can't be. And that means I'm right.
Maglor: That's funny. Because I'm afraid of you.
Ecthelion: *blinks* You are?
Maglor: *nods, whispers* No one else has the power you do over me. You hold my very heart in your hands.
Ecthelion: *kisses her gently* I will always keep it safe, my love.
Maglor: I'm trusting you. *kisses back*
Ecthelion: *pleased and touched, rubs noses with her*
Maglor: *smiles* Surely you knew that?
Ecthelion: I...it means a lot to hear it.
Maglor: Well. *gently but firmly* I love you and I trust you with my heart, my life, and my daughter.
Ecthelion: *at a loss for words, hugs her tight*
Maglor: *sighs, caresses* Oh, Lio.
Ecthelion: *kisses her gently* Hmmm?
Maglor: You're so dear.
Ecthelion: *nuzzles* I love you so much, Kana. You've changed my life.
Maglor: Have I? *kisses his temple* You've saved mine.
Ecthelion: *holds her tight* If I have, I'm so glad.
Maglor: *cuddles* You give me hope for the future. I've never had that.
Ecthelion: *nods* When I think of the future, I see you with me. And runs a hand over the small mound of her belly Lit.
Maglor: I hope she has eyes like yours. I don't know if it's possible, but I want it.
Ecthelion: *grins* We'll just wish my eyes on her, shall we?
Maglor: *nods*
Ecthelion: But she's going to be beautiful, like her nana.
Maglor: Everyone says that... *puts a hand on her stomach*
Ecthelion: *covers her hand with his* You don't think so?
Maglor: I just wonder that it's the only important thing.
Ecthelion: No. It's not. She's going to be her own person, of course. But I'll still think she's beautiful, because she'll be ours.
Maglor: I hope her personality is more like yours than mine. I'm not sure I'll be the best influence for her.
Ecthelion: Well, let's hope she gets the best of both of us then.
Maglor: Yes. I'd like that. *moves her hand so it's on top of his now and squeezes*
Ecthelion: *nuzzles her* I think about her a lot...what it's going to be like.
Maglor: Yeah? What do you think it'll be like?
Ecthelion: *grins* I think we're going to crazy tired and and crazy in love with her.
Maglor: Probably. *laughs* I think you already are.
Ecthelion: Maybe? *kisses* Because I love you so much.
Maglor: *kisses back* I think our pretty little girl will love her ada more than anyone else in the world.
Ecthelion: *beams at this thought*
Maglor: I know -I- do. *strokes his cheek* It'll be tough having to share you, even with our daughter.
Ecthelion: *grins* Wait, I'm going to have to SHARE you?
Maglor: You will, love. And as she gets bigger she may even crawl into our bed at night, if she has bad dreams.
Ecthelion: *laughs* Well, we might have to start sleeping with clothes on when that time comes, huh?
Maglor: I'm afraid so, yes.
Ecthelion: I was figuring she'd sleep with us in the beginning anyway.
Maglor: That might be good for her. *nods* And me.
Ecthelion: Yeah, I thought it would be easier all around.
Maglor: *nods* I've carried her so long already. It'll be hard when she's no longer a part of me.
Ecthelion: Gotta keep her nice and close. But you'll let me hold her once in a while, right? *teasing*
Maglor: Maybe. *sticks out her tongue*
Ecthelion: *cuddles* I guess I'll just have to hold you while you hold her...*
Maglor: I'm afraid so, yes.
Ecthelion: *sighs* What a chore that will be...
Maglor: *chuckles* Poor you.
Ecthelion: *laughs* I know! How did my life get so hard?
Maglor: I'm not sure? I just make you. er. it hard?
Ecthelion: *throaty laugh* I guess you do.
Maglor: *nuzzles* I hope you don't mind.
Ecthelion: *kisses* I can suffer through it.
Maglor: Oh yeah, you suffer pretty horribly, don't you? *smirks and kisses*
Ecthelion: I do! At your hands. *kisses the corner of her mouth* Although I'm not sure "suffering" is the right work for it.
Maglor: Well, you -do- whimper and groan...
Ecthelion: *grins* Right. Suffering.
Maglor: Exactly.
Ecthelion: At your hands. So many times...
Maglor: *smirk* And you probably will again. *slips a hand between them to fondle him gently*
Ecthelion: Heh, right now! I better get ready to suffer.
Maglor: Well, if you don't want to... *takes her hand away*
Ecthelion: *grins and kisses her* No, I'm up for it now.
Maglor: Yes, I suppose you are. *grins back, and returns to fondling him*
Yeah. I think things are okay now.
