1940s?/50s? Japan

Found in one of the many, many boxes from my step-grandfather's basement. It breaks my heart that these were so stuck together, but at least they survived to a recognizable extent.

Based on the number of military-looking Caucasians in the photos, I would assume that your guess of 1949 is about right. It certainly looks like occupation-era Japan.
